“Nice hometown cafe.”
Reviewed July 18, 2012 via mobile

A nice local place to go. They open at 430 am Mon thru Sat. How bonus is that. All of the farmers are up and about and hungry for grub. Had a burger and fries-always what I get when I first visit a place. Nice people. Nothing fancy just good grub. Great place to go. Burger was fantastic !!

“Great Small Town Cafe”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

The family found this gem when traveling from Kansas to Nebraska on July 4th. We were having trouble finding somewhere to eat with all the smaller restaurants being closed (my dad didn't want to stop in Topeka). We thought we were resigned to Burger King when Big Mike's that the GPS had lead us to was closed for the holiday. We pulled up to S & A and were let in eventhough they were trying to close for the day. Food was typically American. Dad and I had cheesburgers and mom had a pork tenderloin sandwhich. All were very good and tasted like they were made from fresh not frozen pre-fab ingredients. The tons of seating suggest this is a local favorite. They didn't have the hot beef sandwich because the owner hadn't expected to open for the holiday, but I would definitely like to try it if I'm ever back in the area.

“One of the mom and pop type cafes not to miss”
Reviewed July 20, 2011

We head to Kansas about twice a month. We always try to have breakfast at the Sand A Cafe, and have done so for 6 years. It's a little like going back in time, to a small hometown coffee shop. The breakfasts are plentiful, cooked without a ton of grease, and reasonably priced. The staff, whether they know you are not, treat you as they would a neighbor.

“Great breakfast on the road”
Reviewed August 26, 2010

We were traveling through Holton, Kansas in the early morning and found the S&A Cafe located in downtown Holton. We had an old-fashioned breakfast that was very good. The food was cooked well and not too greasy, which is sometimes what we find in local diners. The wait staff were very pleasant and kept the coffee mugs topped off. The local were present, which is usually a good sign of good food/atmosphere. Overall, we recommend this little diner for breakfast. Enjoy!
