“Worth going to see!”

Very quite- except for all the nature sounds, of course. Many different species of bird and water fowl. Wildlife thriving in area

“Incredible Birding: Just Add Water”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

There are some shorebirds that stop only one time between the southern hemisphere and the arctic circle. That one stop is at Cheyenne Bottoms . . . when it has water. When we came in April 2013, there was nothing but cracked earth and tumbleweeds. We have added lots of birds to our life list here in the past, and we expect the birds to return when the water returns. As for our most recent trip, we had an excellent view of greater prairie chickens on a tour sponsored by the Wetlands Education Center, but that was actually on private land in the hills above the Bottoms.

“A surprise on the prairie!”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

We were very surprised as we were driving along the prairie and stopped here. We had a great time with our kids exploring the area. However, we were there in the summer and there were A LOT of bugs. We didn't get out of the car for long because the mosquito were so bad. We apparently don't know how to read a map because we became very lost while we were driving through the area.

“Birds still in the the sky, but no water in the area.”
Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

Plenty birds of prey. Great views if water was present I am sure more birds would be seen. About 14 species in about 40 mins. Was great in winter, want to go back in spring. Must stop by tge wetland center first. Get a map checklist and maybe a field guide.

“Low on water but still a good bet.”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Low on water due to low rains. Still had a good bird list. Be ready for the smell, it is a salt marsh with very low water level.
