This is a great place to get the family out of the house. The plants and flowers are beautiful and well-maintained and there is a play area. There is a nice variety of animals for a small town zoo. Admission is FREE!

“A Fantastic Small Zoo”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

This zoo is only about 5 acres but the landscaping is probably one of the best I have ever seen in a zoo. Maybe not a big zoo but it does have many different species of animals and well laid out. For a free zoo, I was very impressed with how well it I taken care of.

“Great small zoo”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

This zoo is amazing. Not a lot of exotic animals but very interesting and the plants and vegetation around the zoo are almost worth the trip all by themselves. Great family trip and there is a miniature train in the park also. Great place to picnic and spend a couple of hours .

“Nice little zoo.”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

This is a small, free zoo. It is not big in size or animal variety, but they do a good job with what they have. They animals are up close, and the landscaping made this one of the prettiest zoos I have seen. Great variety of plants and flowers, and several small waterfalls. Nice place to spend an hour.

“Best little zoo in Kansas”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

Kids keep wanting to go back. Zoo is easy to locate, free, and has a dedicated staff of professionals, and volunteers. All are knowledgeable, like kids, and willing to share. Lisa the Director is especially accommodating and her leadership is obvious. We have been visiting for three years. For anyone who wants to see and photograph exquisite landscaping that includes water features, flowers of many kinds, and out of the ordinary plantings, it is here. The animal count may be small, but they are close up and well cared for. Quite a variety for such a small zoo. Cost --- zip, zero. You can donate. Best days to visit are Monday, Wed, Friday, because from one till four each of those days the adjacent indoor nature/learning center are open, and has additional parking. It is located just up the street East from the main entrance. Snakes, amphibians, a blue tongue skink (a son's favorite) , frogs, etc. are on display in the center. For more there is a city part just to the South, and a Veteran's memorial just to the West. All within easy walking distance. For eats, journey back North on Commercial Street to 'J's grill, a local favorite, take cash. And at lunch time expect to wait, but it is worth it. Thanks to all, we will be back. Check the website for hour changes --- we do have Winter you know. If interested for the best flower blooming time, suggest you call ahead, to see what is in bloom.
