We stayed at this hotel on New Years Eve. Wanted a quick getaway and the hotel shuttles to the casino, so that was a HUGE plus for us. We booked through their website, which was simple and easy. We found out after getting to the hotel that they had another deal which included dinner that we could have booked. Was not offered. The hotel is a little bit hokey for some taste. It's done up in a VERY western theme. Imagine Nat. Lampoon Vacation. We got to the room, which was clean, nicely decorated with the softest bed you can ever imagine. I need to find out what kind of mattresses they have. We went to the restaurant for an appetizer(1/2 price with room). Service there was ok. Water glasses were dirty on the bottom, no health concern, but showed a lack of effort. Food was ok, nothing remarkable. Shuttle driver talked our ears off the whole 5 minute ride to the casino and back after midnight. The free breakfast in the morning should have been very promising, but we got there and waiting 15 minutes for someone to come tel us to seat ourselves. We then waited for 20 more for any food to be put on the buffet. I waited an additional 20 minutes to get my cup of coffee, then served in a Styrofoam cup. Then we waited even longer for clean plates for the buffet and more food. They were very poorly prepared to serve breakfast on the first of the year. Yes, they had a large group in the hotel... that had booked at least a month in advance. There was a guy that walked around dressed in western attire with a marshal badge. I couldn't quite tell if he was in charge or not? He was unable to seat anyone and just kinda walked around filling coffee. Nice enough guy, but the place needed a manager in a bad bad way.

We stayed here two nights while playing tourists in Dodge City. First of all, I had now idea how cool Kansas is. It is now one of my favorite states, and the museum in Dodge City is the best historical museum I have seen virtually anywhere. Plus they have a cowboy era bar. Enough said. We will be back.

The hotel rooms were huge, especially for the price. They are mini-suites, i.e. a living area that is not separated by a wall. They surround a huge room in the center with a pool, old western stuff, ping pong tables, classic video games (Galaga and PacMan!), pool tables and a piano. You could just hang out at the hotel. I would certainly come back with a group of friends to hang out here. Yes, the ceiling needs some painting, and the gym could use some updated equipment, but at this price it shouldn't have a gym and shouldn't be so nice and so much fun. They also have a free shuttle to the local casino. Don't go to the local casino. Hang out at the hotel and have fun.

As blind travellers, my husband and I look for hotels which are easy to navigate, have friendly staff, and have all the conveniences. The Dodge House Hotel and Convention Center meets all the above requirements, and more. Facilities include a pool, laundry facilities (very reasonably priced at $1 for a wash and $1 for a dry), a full-service restaurant with room service, free shuttle service to the casino, airport and train station, and even an audio-enabled bank machine! The lay-out of the main level is very simple and easy to learn. My husband has a guide dog and we were able to find a good relieving spot for her. We found time to have a drink at the saloon as well, and they have a very unusual bar with horses' heads along the rail. The hotel staff--food service, housekeeping and reception--are friendly and always happy to help. One of the owners is often on-site and he is very friendly and outgoing. What can we say? We loved it so much we came back again for another few days within a week of leaving!

And finally, their bull nuts are very tasty!

We stayed for the first time at the Dodge House. My wife had some business meetings that she had to attend in Dodge and it was also her birthday, so we made a long weekend. The hotel manager was very accomodating and had flowers for her in our room when we arrived with a nice birthday card. The room was nice as was the hotel. We have stayed at other motels in Dodge but will return to this one.

It's an older full service hotel, well decorated with western history and a full history of the TV series "Gunsmoke". Large rooms, reasonably priced, nice breakfast and a drink and appetizer special for hotel guests. I'd definitely stay again and would recommend. It is older than the new big box motels but a lot of nice character.
