We had a family reunion at the Dodge House last summer. The rooms were well maintained and the beds where comfortable. The breakfast buffet in the morning was very nice although it was extra for orange juice. The history of the Dodge House adds to the charm especially if you are there to get some of that old west experience. The pool/atrium area is also a plus.

Room Tip: If you have a choice though don't stay in one of the rooms with a door in the atrium area if you...

We stayed 2 nights in a second floor room. I would rate it as "Fair". There were a lot of things we thought were odd: couldn't see the point of the indoor courtyard - it looked like a storage area for old, unrelated things (was huge and empty except for one night late when basketball kept us awake); the door to the bathroom was totally in the way of the sink area; carpets needed replacing everywhere; and, the whole place showed its age.
We wished there was a window to outdoors so we could have gotten some fresh air. The one window was to the indoor area, and could not be opened. I slept with no blankets on because it was so hot and humid.
The complimentary breakfast buffet was pretty good. Fruit would have been nice.
The roomed seemed clean and the people at the desk were nice, though.

Room Tip: Rooms with an outside, opening window would give you fresh air and less courtyard noise.

This is a great motel, has a great swimming pool and hot tub. The free shuttle to the casino is great! I wouldn't say anywhere else in Dodge City! Nice area for kids to play (arcade, vollyball, table tennis, pinball etc.) inside.

Our first night here was @ best western. They were full so we stayed here. Bad choice. The lobby is fine looking but the rest of the building isnt, it's old. Pool area is in middle, sound travels into room. Beds uncomfortable, we had a banging noise on the roof. Blinds were very thin, so the sun was right in my eyes when I woke up. Countertop around sink was just a couple inches, not ideal for a woman. Tv is low so hard to see while lying in bed. Also the middle area very hot and humid.

Stayed at this hotel recently in connection with a meeting. Very worn out lobby carpet, pool & hot tub. The room had been updated somewhat but was so confusing to find due to the many additions to the structure and difficult to access the outside parking lot. New modern brand name hotels are next door and I'd check with them first. If you're looking for something close to the Dodge City tourist area, this is the last hotel from that location

Having one bad stay at a hotel is one thing. Having stayed at this hotel off and on for the past 9 months, I can't say really anything nice about this place. Mind you, we are business owners ourselves and when we stay we usually require 2-4 rooms. One long weekends when our children aren't in school, we often bring them along. When we travel with our children, we prefer to have a hotel with adjoining rooms. In our past stays, I have been unimpressed to say the least with the customer service or shall I say the lack of...This trip has been by far the worst. We called ahead for reservations and explained that we would need 3 rooms and 2 needed to be adjoining. We sent our crew members ahead of us and had them take the 1 room. They had some issues getting checked in but nothing too major. Upon our arrival, we were given keys to 2 rooms. They were on the second floor. There's no elevator and we don't exactly travel light when our 3 children are involved. Afte unloading our luggage onto a cart and pushing it to the nearest stairway and carrying half the contents up the stairs, I opened the rooms only to find that they didn't adjoin at all. Hubby went to the desk and we were given 2 new rooms on the opposite side of the atrium with no clear instructions on how to find said rooms. After winding up and down hallways and stairways we finally found the rooms and eventually got all of our luggage upstairs. As we were bringing up the last of it, the manager's wife pokes her head out and informs us that the next time we should alert the front desk and they can have someone help us get our luggage to our room. (Mind you, we pushed 2 carts full of luggage past the front desk) The next day, I get in the shower. There's no hope for getting wet at all in this so-called shower. So, I call the front desk and politely asked them to have the maint. man come up and change out the shower head. No biggie right. It's a hotel, I am sure they have back ups. Maint. man came promptly and walked in on me trying to get dressed. (nothing was ever done about the shower) The maids came that day, only doing a "decent" job. No cups were left. No coffee was left. They basically changed the sheets, took the trash, and left towels. That evening, we get to visiting with other guests and stayed up all night chatting. We stayed in the lobby area as there are sofas and such to sit around on and also we were trying to be curtious of other guests and their tryingg to sleep. We were asked to leave the lobby around 7:30 or 8 am due to people coming and going as it was getting to be breakfast time. (didn't make sense to me but whatever, we complied and left) So, we move our conversation to the loft visiting area. About 8:30 am, the manager comes flying out of his room, in his robe, and tells us that we can take it into our room or out of his hotel. We gave him no flack and really didn't understand what the big deal was. Hubby is a large man with an equally large voice but we were keeping it down. We all got up and disbursed without incident. We had already stayed up all night visiting and really needed to call an end. We go to the room, put the do not disturb out and went to bed. Around noon, the phone rings. Front desk wants to know if we want maid service because it's Sunday and the maids leave at 1. I tell them no, but if they could just leave towels and take trash but no need to change beds. They did...just that and nothing more. Still no cups. Still no coffee. Well, since they woke me up, I stayed up. Decided to make coffee. Oops. No coffee. Hubby calls front desk to ask for cups and for coffee. The desk clerk proceeds to tell him that we had the do not disturb on yesterday and so, the maids didn't come but that they will fix it in the morning. Hubby goes to the front desk to try to retrieve coffee and cups himself. He was refused coffee and cups and met by earlier mentioned manager. The manager told him that we had done nothing but complain since our arrival and that we should just leave and go to the Travel Lodge down the street. The Dodge House boasts to be a conference center etc etc. They have an atrium area that they use as "conference rooms". They divide these "rooms" into rooms by using room dividers made of lattice works. This particular day, there was a wedding and prom show going on. Which made use of the pool restricted from 1-4 on a Sunday afternoon of a long weekend. So, basically, when they have some sort of conference going on the other guests can find something other to do than hang around the hotel. Not of their own free will or choice but by management's choice. I CAN'T hardly bring myself to even tell others that I've even stayed here. Much less recommend it to anyone!!

Has the potential to be nice...unfortunately, unless their is a huge turn around in the customer service department, that won't likely happen!!

I have read all the reviews on this Hotel..my impressions are:
If you want to call this Hotel "WESTERN" because it has a long horn head in the lobby then its western, with a pool and other "old" things like the rooms carpets etc. Little pricy for this standard a place $85.00
Built 1873 ! ? maybe some part of it, [certainly not the convention center] but I didn't really get any feeling of "Yip Yea Cay Cowboy"
The place is fine just don't expect to meet Miss Kitty or have a drink with Matt Dillion or Wyatt Earp
