“Average, a little over priced”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

Recommended from our hotel for their steaks. My husband had a steak and it was cooked perfectly, just smaller than expected. I had pork chops which were really good, a little on the thin side though. Very quite in there on a Tuesday night.

“What a charming place for dinner”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

Sometimes I don't think we could be any luckier than we are and then we find a charming place like this. When we walked in, it seemed more like a sports bar than anything else, but when we told the hostess we wanted dinner, she asked if we'd like the train car. Well I had looked it up on TA before we went, so I knew we would love the train car. Old style Victorian car that was a little wider than I expected. I had an absolutely fantastic fillet, it did not look half as good as it tasted though. The atmosphere was very romantic and added a special thrill to our vacation. Definitely a must do.

“Very good food, great deserts and a choice of atmospheres”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

We were on the road spending a night in Dodge City and after consulting Trip Advisor decided to have dinner at Central Station. It turns out that the main dinning room was occupied with a darts tournament with exuberant and LOUD participants. However, there are two other choices of dining areas both of which were much quieter: One in a nicely decorated dining car located in the rear of the restaurant; the other at the end opposite the dart tournament. We enjoyed the steak special which was cooked exactly to our order - based upon the advice in TA we did make a point of emphasizing how we wanted them. The side dishes were particularly good - in contrast to those served in so many restaurants. We found the restaurant - including the restrooms - to be clean. The prices were certainly reasonable. Our waitress gave us good service. If we are ever back in Dodge City we will certainly dine again at Central Station.

Stopped in during an overnight stay on vacation. Read reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to take a chance since Dodge City KS seems to have few local steakhouse options. We were seated in the train car, which was kind of fun. Thought it would be more crowded on a Friday night.

Had a Filet Minon with baked potato and green beans. Came with a green salad.

The salad was fresh and average. Nothing exciting, but tasty anyway. The steak was cooked to order, but wrapped in bacon, which I didn't anticipate. No worries, I just removed the bacon. It was quite tasty, if a little salty. Potato and green beans were fine. They were served with some sort of margarine and I asked for real butter, but they didn't serve it. . .

Our waitress seemed very young and inexperienced. She didn't bring our alcoholic drinks to the table, another server did (I assume she wasn't old enough to handle liquor?). She asked questions in an inexperienced way ("how are you guyses dinners?" rather than "how are your dinners?") and messed up the check by not including the bar tab. We called it to her attention and made sure it was right before paying. She also took our cash without asking if we wanted change (which we didn't, but more experienced servers know to ask).

The experience was fine considering that Dodge City seems to be a culinary deadzone. It's sad really, that "Cowtown" only has one real local venue from which to choose a steak.
