“Special colours!”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

The colour of the hotel is not to be missed. This hotel was a bit expensive for where it was located but the room was big and clean. The interior was a bit old fashioned but still good. We stayed on a hot day without airconditioning. We did however have a fan, this did not cool the room.
Breakfast was ok.We ate in the restaurant opposite the hotel, the food was very good and cheaper than in the hotel. The staff in the hotel were very friendly. Interesting to see that their newspaper has 3 languages, german, french and luxembourghs.

Upon the recommendation of a friend, I stayed at this small hotel for a few days recently. It is in the town of Kleinbettingen, 100 meters down the street from the commuter rail stop (on Route 50 from Luxembourg). Rooms were very small, but comfortable - good if you want nothing more than a bed, a shower, a desk, and a closet. The hotel has two buildings: one has a nice restaurant (closed Wednesdays), the other has a breakfast area which offers continental fare every morning. The proprietor brings in a selection of pastries, breads, fruit, yoghurt, coffee and tea, juices, etc., each morning - most adequate, with a personalized feel. For other food options, there is a Chinese restaurant across the street, and a small pub/bar closer to the CFL rail station. The hotel is fairly quiet, but the express trains that run straight through Kleinbettingen do make a bit of noise which can be clearly heard when indoors - not enough to be disturbing, though - and the occasional truck going to and from the grain silos in this town are a bit noisy from time to time. Parking is limited, uncovered, but right in front and behind the main building and adequate to the size of the hotel, and free. For working in Capellen, or even somewhere in Luxembourg center, staying at this little hotel was a nice alternative to the hotels in the big city (especially since most of the time, the only thing in your room is your luggage). Using the commuter train to get around is easy and economical, but the commuter train quits running in the late evening, so be sure to make other plans to get back if you are going to be late (or if you go one stop up the line to Arlon, Belgium, for dinner, as I did - the cab back was 20 Euros). Upon my return, I found my room had not only been cleaned, but all my clothes had been folded, or placed on hangars and in the small closet (as if I had a valet, or my grandmother cleaned up after me), even though I specified I needed no service that day. Overall, it is a very good, no frills place to stay, with a homey feel in a small town on a commuter rail line. Bottom line: I'll go back.

Room Tip: Ask the property owner for the kind of room you prefer; as our group of four arrived, she described...
