We have been here numerous times over the years and it had always been good. I think there has been a recent change of management as this time it was rather dissappointing. It was christmas eve and we rang to book as we thought it would be packed but they said they had tables. When we arrived we stood at the bar and were ignored by both the barman and the waitress. We were eventually given a choice of tables. One by the loo and the other by the door. So one smelly and the other draughty. We sat by the door and no one came over with a menu. There were about 5 choices of 'specials' on a blackboard, but that was it. We saw menus on another table and got one ourselves. The waitress took our order and we asked if we could sit in the restaurant and were shown to a nice table. There was only 2 other occupied tables in there so i don't know why we weren't given a table there in the first place. Our meal took ages to arrive, pan roasted duck with roast potatoes and red currant jus. hmmm jus dried up and not much of it and no veg. Pudding was ok, all choices fattening and no prices shown on the board. Our meal for 2 came to £40.30. I would think twicw before going again. Pity as this used to be excellent with a good atmosphere but sadly no longer.

Thanks for your review, There is no change in Ownership of the business since 2010. We are very sorry to know that you have not been provided a table in the restaurant in the first instance, normaly we do ask the customer where they would like to be seated as some times customers prefer to sit in the bar area.

We take extereme care in the preparation of the food, as all the ingeridents are from the local produce with quality, And every items in the Menu is made to order.

As our regular customer, we would like to welcome you again with the assurance that we take every customer feed back seriously and continue to excel in the areas where the improvement is needed.

Apologises that you had a bad experience in our of your many visits, and do give us a another chance to make it correct.

Thank you.

Visited with a friend and her small baby. Staff could not have been more accomodating. The waitress on duty treated us like we were old friends.
Excellent food. Good varied menu. Good portions. Nice atmosphere. Yes the decor is a little tired but in a way it gives the pub it's good ole English atmosphere.

This is our third visit to Chequers. When ever we visit Norwich always make it a point to eat at Chequersinn.

We love the look fo the building, And we prefer to sit near the fire in the restaurants. Only change is the restaurant partly is painted in the red colour giving it a modern look. Menu is adequate with more options available on the Specials board.

Only issue was the food taking more than expected time to arrive..but the Waitress has informed us in advance that the food is made to order and it will take little time as even the sauces are made inhouse.. food came out delicious. Throughly enjoyed the visit.
