I had such a relaxing and interesting stay at the Field Studies Centre that I am reluctant to recommend this treasure lest it become wildly popular and no longer a haven for travellers heading north!
It provides a real bush experience. The bandas are simple, clean and very reasonably priced. There is also the choice of an outdoor shower for those who like to bathe beneath the stars. And the food! Absolutely delicious. Each meal was a favourite.
Activities include ethno-botany walks, one and two day hikes, or you could make your own journey to the colourful Saturday market in Lomut.
A favourite with university research groups, there are often interesting people around with a specialist knowledge in a particular area with whom to chat. Likewise, the host family has been living in the area for a couple of decades at least and are a well of knowledge and experience.
I would definitely recommend the Marich Pass Field Studies Centre to friends and family.
