We stayed at stuart house bed & breakfast last year and we had an amazing stay! We stayed 2 weeks in total, and those weeks we felt completely at home. The lady had the best bakeryskills i've ever experienced in my life. Lucky for me she wrote down all the recepies for me! The breakfast was delicious and they were very friendly. When i was prepairing myself for a wedding she let me use her ironer and when my hair straightner died she let me use hers!
Amazingly cosy and comfortable stay. When there was something wrong with the shower, they fixed it emediatly and didn't let us pay for that day. Great service!

This was a very comfortable B&B. We were 2 couples - our room was small but the other room was large. We got there late at night as we had driven down from Quebec City. Although the address says Amherst it is actually outside of the town. Shelly, the innkeeper, made us feel right at home and stayed and talked to us after we had settled in. Quilts made by her grandmother, her mother, and herself were on the beds. The breakfast was delicious - homemade muffins, frit salad with home grown blueberries, French toast, and sausage.

A great spot on the East Coast of Nova Scotia. Brian met us and showed us in and around the property. Our room had a comfortable Queen bed with adjoining 3 piece bathroom and a pullout sofa. A small sitting area with TV for all guests to enjoy and chat with one another. Shelley took the opportunity to visit with her new guests as well.

Shelley had a great breakfast for us and to top it off there was a feeder outside the window that attracted hummingbirds to give us a show during our breakfast.

We will definitely be back if we're in the area again, and recommend to anyone needing a comfortable place to stay while on the east coast of Nova Scotia.

The Stuart House was our family's first experience at staying at a B&B and we are SO GLAD we did !! I guess many hotels and B & B's, etc. are rated according to ammenities more than anything else but, more important than all that for our family was the comfortable, cozy and immaculate accomodations and the attention to details that enhanced our stay! We enjoyed the warm hospitality of Shelly and Brian who were very accomodating to a picky 10-year old eater as well as offering her parents delicious breakfasts! We definitely would return and carry with us some excellent memories of our trip and our stay in their home!

We have recently spent 2 nights sampling Shelly & Brian's hospitality. The bedrooms ate spotless & very comfortable. The home cooking is amazing. Set un a quiet, country location, close to the beach, I would thoroughly recommend this home from home. We will definatley be back!

The Stuart House is a friendly and personable B and B close to the Northumberland Strait shores of Nova Scotia. Although I was initially confused by the Amhert address, which appears to be the name of a town closer to the Welcome Center between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, I was quite pleased with the beautiful and peaceful less-traveled locale near the ocean (which is what I wanted!). The Tanners are a genial couple, quite knowledgeable and sociable. Evening tea and cookies were a pleasant and welcome surprise. The price is extremely reasonable and the accommodations were comfortable and met our needs. If you have not made a trip to the red sand beaches, stop by Shelly and Brian's. You will feel like you are visiting your relatives and eat a great breakfast to boot!

We stayed for a night in August 2011 after booking through a Nova Scotia tourist centre. When we arrived at Stuart House, we were welcomed more like family than guests. Shelly and Brian were terrific hosts who took great care to make sure we have a pleasant stay. They were very friendly and frank in conversations and were proud to explain the history of the house (one would assume they get tired of explaining the same thing to everyone else), and showed great hospitality.

The well-maintained B&B has a lot of history, and it's a great example of a Canadian family and East Coast hospitality. It's not something that you see everywhere, and not a lot of B&B offer such things.

The breakfast was one of the best on our East Coast trip, the generous fruit bowl of raspberries and blueberries were picked from the backyard in the morning; they just don't get any fresher than that.

Stuart House is more than an accommodation, it's an experience for us, and a great one at that. Thank you Shelly and Brian.
