“OK for 1 night but not much more”
Reviewed September 4, 2008

My husband and I stayed here out of necessity because we had gone to the nearby Amana Colonies for a weekend trip and had planned to camp. We camped the first night but unfortunately it rained the next morning and our tent flooded so we were forced to get a hotel room. This was about our last stop in a merry go-round odyssey/struggle to find a hotel room as it seemed everyone else was in the same predicament as us. It didn't look like the nicest place from the outside but at that point we didn't care - we just wanted a room.
Overall it was just OK or fair. The bathtub did not appear to have been scrubbed or cleaned very well after the previous occupants. The bedsheets had yellowish (ew!) stains on them. The dining area in the lobby where we had our continental breakfast was painfully small and crowded, with barely enough elbow room for more than 6 or 8 people! The pool was decent but needed a good cleaning. And to get to the hotel you had to drive through the pothole and crack-filled parking lot of the abandoned, falling-apart restaurant next door. It's OK for 1 night in a pinch but I would not stay much more than that.

This was an okay place to spend one night while traveling. It was late when we got in but were able to check in quickly. The room was adequate but I hated having to carry my bags up a flight of stairs (when will these places learn that an elevator is not a luxury).

We didn’t try the breakfast, because the very small breakfast area was full with staff taking a coffee break and it just didn’t seem worth it to try to find a place to sit down.

If I were going to spend a lot of time in the area, I think I would want something more than just adequate.

We stayed one night 6-30-06 as a stopover on our way through Iowa to Chicago. The front desk manager was friendly and showed us a room for our approval. We got a room with 3 double beds and a double pull out sofa (The room is the one pictured in the photos) However, there was not enough room for the sofa bed to pull out, which didn't bother us because it wasn't needed. The indoor pool area is nicely lined with cedar, and pool toys were provided, but the water was freezing and the chlorine burned my eyes, and I didn't even get IN the water. The staff was very helpful with extra towels, and the breakfast buffet was your standard cereal/pastries/fruit fare. There was free wireless internet, and I saw a small business center in the lobby.

Overall, this was fine for a place for weary travelers to crash for the night, but not somewhere I would stay for an extended period.
