Won this on a Priceline bid of $52. The room wasn't the largest, but more than adequate. Bed was so comfortable!!! Pool area is decent and the hot tub is especially large. You can't beat the location just off the Interstate in West Des Moines. VERY nice new mall about a mile south along with solid chain restaurants. I can't think of anything I didn't like about the hotel overall ... maybe narrow hallways???

Nice touch with a speaker in the bathroom to hear the TV when getting ready. We didn't eat there, so I can't comment on the restaurant but breakfast in the morning looked solid. The front desk was very polite and nice. Hotel was VERY busy with a classic car show in town, but that's not the hotel's fault in the least. I haven't stayed elsewhere in Des Moines, but this would be a tough place to beat for the great deal we received.

I stayed at this Marriott for one night on business. I only paid $95 on Priceline.

The hotel is now all non-smoking. They have obviously spent a great deal of money to clean out the old smoke. Just note: the second floor was the old "smoking floor". If you are a smoker you might not notice anything. However, I walked onto that floor and thought someone was actually smoking at that moment. I randomly ran into a couple who also moved floors for the same reason, so I don't think it was just me. Just note that if you don't like the smell of smoke...avoid the 2nd floor.

Also, all the king bed rooms face the interstate. I tried a room on the 1st floor. My window was 15 feet away from cars in the parking lot and although the interstate wasn't as noisy as it could have been...you can hear it. If you really want a king bed, request a room on a higher level. As you have probably figured out, I changed rooms twice. It wasn't anything they could really help and they couldn't have been nicer about changing my room. I ended up just taking a room with two double beds (401) on the 4th floor and it was fine.

The rooms are clean and a nice size. Shampoos, conditioners and soap are all nice (Bath and Body brand--- I always like that citrus shampoo. :)) I liked that they have the TV speakers in the bathroom so you can listen to it while you are getting ready.

I had dinner in the lounge (which was open until 10PM). They serve the steakhouse menu in there as well. The food was average hotel food and they do offer low-carb options that were pretty good. The wireless worked really well in the lounge and was free.

The airport is a good 20 minutes away. It was a little longer in my case because of weather. There is a huge gas station just across the street from the hotel to fill up your rental car.

If you have to be in Des Moines...it is a perfectly average, decent place to stay.

This was a good, clean hotel. It was just what one would expect from a Marriott. Oddly, though, I had the same experience as a previous reviewer: the robe in my room had also obviously been used and not laundered.
The concierge lounge is a step up from the usual Marriott fare. One could eat dinner in the lounge - complete with dessert. The fare was more substantial than the usual cheese, crackers, and egg rolls/mini-quiches you usually find in those places. And it was open on Sunday night!
The location is easy to find - right off the highway - and near a newish mall with many upscale chain restaurants.
I stay in a lot of Marriott brand hotels. This ranks up there with the better ones. I'd stay there again without hesitation.

This is a very nicely appointed Marriott hotel right off of I-80 and less than a mile from the beautiful Jordan Creek Town Centre mall. Bedrooms are tastefully decorated with plush bedding. Dry sauna, heated pool and whirlpool a treat after shopping and traveling. Steakhouse and lounge/bar far nicer than represented on the marriott.com web site. Room service very efficient. Highly recommended hotel in West Des Moines.

You have lots of hotel choices in this area but this one worked for me with a good AAA rate and location.

This hotel is very conveniently located right off the highway. It's easy to spot and easy to get to. Located near gas stations and food places. Right down the road is the Jordan Creek Mall, which is upscale and has many stores too. The hotel itself is clean and contemporary. The staff was very courteous and accommodating. They even went out of their way to make me a sandwich that wasn't on the menu after a long trip, which I thought was a great gesture. The parking lot did not seem big enough for the number of rooms for the hotel, but that may have just been because they were very busy. I still was able to find a spot. The restaurant is beautiful and very tasteful. It is a tad on the expensive side for the area, but it is a nice restaurant and it's in a hotel so what do I expect. All in all, I was pleased with the service and the hotel. I would recommend the hotel and will stay there again if staying in Des Moines.

A typical Marriott with no surprises except the bathrobe (provided by the hotel) had been used and not washed since the last occupant of the room. There were make-up smears all over it. Gross!
