Plan on f lunch at either Cafe Su (Chinese restaurant) or The Tavern (Italian.) Take a little time to shop at the numerous art galleries, jewelry, clothing , ("Sisters") and scrapbooking shops. "Outstamping Designs",is another wonderland of papers for homemade cards, a multitude of inks and rubber stamps..You can find personalized souvenirs for almost everyone on your list. There is an "all Iowa" products store as well. "The Theatrical/ Shop" specializes in costumes, (great gifts for the kids, grandkids and adult' trick or treating), tiaras, dance clothes ,shoes and supplies. After spending a few hours in Valley Junction,, visit The Des Moines Art Center, just a few miles east on Grand Avenue!

Valley Junction is a boutique style shopping area. All small, unique shops from antiques to "what-nots". Never know when yo will find a treasure here!

Valley Junction used to be more of an antique hunters environment but is slowly evolving into more of a restaurant, curio shop area. There are some good restaurants and interesting shops to purchase unique items, but as a antique emporium, it has fallen off. Several of the antique dealers have moved to the East Village area of Des Moines, and one of the largest dealer stores has closed; and it was one of the best.
