“Excellent service, decent Italian Food”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

I received a gift certificate to eat here, otherwise it probably wouldn't have been my first choice. But, I am glad I did try it. The decor really makes it seem fancier than it is, which was nice. Though, the big screen tvs over the bar take away from the faux upscale scene they are going for. Our waiter was wonderful. He really made us feel welcome, was attentive, and friendly. Our appetizer was delicous. The main courses were good. Nothing out of the ordinairy, but cooked well and big portions. The price was definitely in line with what they served. I'd go back, even without a gift certificate!

“Good food and service with nice a atmosphere.”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

This is a very nice Italian restaurant. We were looking for a nice place to have Easter Saturday dinner with family. This place fit the bill very nicely. We were able to make reservations so we did not need to wait needlessly. It is not a cheap restaurant. We are not accustomed to going to ala carte so the price can get high quickly. The food was very good but I could not say it was excellent or superb. The service was excellent and our server did a very good job explaining everything. Get a booth if you can but if you have more than four you will get a table.

The service is always prompt and curtious. Food is always on point. I have yet to have a bad expirience here. Definately part of our "rotation" of places to eat. Recently expirienced another Biaggi's in Colorado and the expirience there did not meet our expectations. Glad we have the better store here at home

“Good italian food, great fun and friendly service!”

This is a very welocming place. Rick, our favorite waiter actually remembers us...even though we haven't been in in several months! If you are a fan of beets, The beet salad is unusual and delicious! (diced harvard beets, goat cheese, cranberries, pistashio nuts and avacado over greens, yum). My fave is always the eggplant parmesean, generous serving of delicately sauted eggplant and a side of pasta. There are so many good choices though it is hard to name one or two. Trendy and upscale, yet prices are very fair, portions are generous and the service, excellante!

“Food to rave about!”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

On a suggestion from a local resident, we went to Biaggi's in West Des Moines. Remind me to send flowers and a thank you card to the person who steered us in that direction! The decor was nice - right in the upper middle of restaurant design, pleasing to the eye without it being ostentatious. We were seated quickly and the service was friendly and fast.

But the food... wow.

We ate the chicken pietro (amazing burst of flavor to the balsamic vinegar/dijon mustard/rosemary/honey sauce, along with accompanying al dente vegetables and very good chicken), a soup and salad combo (the salad greens were fresh, feta cheese was tasty and the lobster chowder was a revelation) and their salmon and shrimp milanese (I can't begin to tell you how good this was - they describe it as "Fresh fillet of fennel seed / black peppercorn crusted salmon seared on iron. Served with large grilled shrimp, creamy Italian rice with asparagus and saffron and a lemon basil butter sauce.") Yeah... it's as good as it sounds. I'm still jonesing for that lemon basil butter sauce...

It's a treat when you go to a restaurant with a number of people and at least half the conversation around the table is about how great the food is. Biaggi's in West Des Moines is that place. Highly recommended for those born with taste buds.
