Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Walnut

Although the breakfast was mainly highly concentrated carbs, no fruits and the coffee was water-down, my room, was large, clean (which is very important to me), but the drain in the bath tub was running slow; no smells, and polite but distant crew, for the price it was a good choice very close to downtown for "antiquing"

Room Tip: rooms with double beds are bigger then the ones with queen beds

If your traveling I-80 and do not want to go all the way to Des Moines Stop here in Walnut, Ia. and stay at the Econo-Lodge. I'm not sure about the negative reviews below but my stay was nice!!! You wouldn't think so by the outside but everything is refurbished, repainted, and very Nice!!!! We had two pets and they are very welcome....with a large grassy area for them to exercise.. So I say Stay!!! you won't be disappointed!

This past thursday we arrived at Walnut, Iowa for the Antique Festival. We had a reservation and arrived at the hotel around three o'clock. Our room wasn't ready, so we went into town and spent several hours looking at the shops and having dinner. When we arrived at the hotel at 6:15 our room still wasn't cleaned! The manager didn't apologize-just told us to be patient! After coralling the cleaning staff, they cleaned out room. It took another half an hour until we were able to enter our room. There was no apology from the manager. In our many years of travel this was a first. Even though we have been Choice Privileges members for at least twenty years, we will skip this motel on our next visit to Walnut.

We stayed here on our way home from Arizona. The room was comfortable and quiet. There were some nasty winds that night and after a long day of driving, we were upgraded to a king bed even though we didn't ask. It was a much appreciated gesture and we would stay there again. The only thing is there wasn't much to the breakfast. We looked it over and decided we would do better somewhere else. But if you want a clean, comfortable room at a good price, check this out.

Everything was very pleasing. The room was extremely clean, as if still new. The bed was comfortable and we will stay again. The breakfast was very good, biscuits and gravy. Only drawback was no more coffee pot in room.

Econo Lodge's are usually made from the worst of the worst old motels. I think this one is no different. But I didn't see too many signs of that.

This one was clean enough to meet my tough standards. The showers, sinks, and fixtures looked new. Front desk and dining areas were modern and spacious. Bed clothes looked very clean - no spots of any kind. Mattresses looked new. Windows did not look cruddy like some of the older madeover motels. Carpet looked like it could have been shampooed but it didn't look bad enough to bother me much.

Bottom line, for the money I would stay here again.

We usually stay in fairfields or comfort suites. I was really glad a room was available to accommodate us & our three little kids. The hotel manager was personable and took great care of us. There was another lady traveling whose car broke down & the hotel maintenence guy was giving her excellent advice on getting towed across country.

We have bikes, cartop carrier & a van full of stuff we left in the parking lot overnight with no worries at all.

Breakfast was better than typical continental & the atmosphere felt like we were all sitting around a friend's dining room chatting with all.

We were excited to have a first floor room which helped a ton with a little baby. Surprisingly this hotel had all interior corridors. Rooms showed some wear and tear but very clean. Would def stay here again!
