I ate at the Prime Rib on a recent trip to Iowa. Ate late night on a Wednesday and got seated right away. A Neon sign outside lights up saying "Immediate Seating".
I ordered a salad and one of the smaller 10 ounce prime ribs. The prime rib was very good, soft & juicy. The meal only came with some kind of wedge cut potato's that were well seasoned No veggies. 3 Rolls and some mushy, melted butter were brought out before the salad which was a warm lettuce salad with one sliver of carrot, a shaving of radish peel and a few croutons and less than an ounce of dressing.
There were no lights above my table nor anywhere close to where I was seated. The 3 pot lights on the other side of the room seemed to be dimmed way down, I wanted to read some brochures, but it was too dark. The furniture & carpet were brown. The wood tables felt grimey and damp, kind of like when humidity levels are high. The leather bound menus were grimey feeling too.. Some of the tables were backed up to long padded benches with chairs on the other three sides.
The serivce was ok. The restaurant is within walking distance to 2-3 hotels nearby.
The parking lot is very dark and there are no painted curbs or driveway openings to indicate where the curb or exit driveway is. I ended up driving off the curb scraping the bottom of the car.(Muffler maybe??). Driving toward the south exit I had no idea how far down it was, so I just turned and drop off a 4" high curb...
Meal with one cocktail and tip came to $30.00
