“Long black train....”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2012

We pulled into this place at about 12:30 a.m. (not our first choice of hotels). The front entrance door was locked and you had to "call" the front desk to allow you to enter. This immediately made me feel very uncomfortable.

The room was a room. It had two beds and a bathroom....when you're exhausted, it'll do.

All was well until about 5:00 a.m. when the trains started honking their horns. In an hour time frame, I believe we heard 3 to 4 train horns. The train track is just on the other side the road. So much for sleeping!

I stayed here for one night with my wife and two daughters on our way to the Black Hills in South Dakota. I booked the room about an hour before we showed up and they had everything ready when we arrived. We were able to swim in the pool which was good sized and clean. The room was spacious and clean. More than enough room for the 4 of us. Breakfast was nice. A great hotel for the price we paid. I would have no problem staying in this hotel again.

We've stayed at this property before and were satisfied. In the past it was a good stop while on the road. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean and comfortable, etc. This time we had a completely different experience. When we made the reservation, we requested a first-floor room, king bed, in a non-smoking area. When we checked in, we were given a room on the 2nd floor (no elevators), 2 queens, in an area where the hall reeked of smoke. Our room did not smell of smoke but we did keep the window open all night to keep fresh air in.
As soon as we realized how different our room was, we called the front desk to see if we could change. The person at the desk said no, that all rooms were taken, and she really didn't seem to care. Next we noticed that a prior guest's wet dirty clothes were hanging in the closet. We called to let them know...again no one seemed concerned and no one came to get them. The next morning the breakfast area ran out of coffee and it took a long, long time to get more delivered. The two young women at the front desk seemed not to care and were much more interested in some conversation about a personal matter.
Maybe this experience was an exception, maybe not. Last month in Illinois we had a similar problem with the same hotel chain with smelly smoky rooms.

Room Tip: There are no elevators in this motel so stay on the first floor if you have a lot of stuff.

Hotel is clean, quiet, and in safe area of town. Breakfast was better than the usual motel breakfast because it had better quality bread products, hot scrambled eggs, and nearly reasonable (strength) coffee. Pool area looked fun for families. Very comfortable at a reasonable price.

I had an extended stay for 3 months at this hotel due to work. The hotel was clean, very comfortable beds and the staff was always friendly. I would stay again on my next visit.

The breakfasts are good. There is always coffee or tea in the main area. Access to a computer is available. The people are friendly, and I always seem to forget something after I check out, and they call me before I get out of town which is great!!!! I haven't used their pool, but it looks pretty nice. I always stay here when I am in town because of the above and the location and the safety.

For a peaceful hotel experience stay at the AmericInn in Sioux City, IA. The rooms really are quiet. The recent updates to the rooms are nice and it is quite comfortable.
There is plenty of food available nearby and Walmart is right there, for those who prefer to pick up something to eat in their hotel room, or if you need something that you forgot to pack.
The AmericInn hotel staff is friendly and helpful.
It is a very pleasant place to spend one night or several nights.
I will be back next year and any other time I find myself in Sioux City for an overnight stay.
