The night we went they were very short staffed due to a couple people calling in. We've all been there and know how that goes so I will cut them some slack on the service. The waitress we had was on her own in a busy restaurant and still managed to stay friendly and somewhat attentive. On a different night I think the service would be much better. My wife and I both enjoyed the quirkiness of the place and the pizza was very good. We will definitely return!

Sorry, but don't think we'll ever come here to eat again. Last night, June 24, 2012, was our first visit and probably our last. We loved the decor of the restuarant and found it interesting. However, it took us 15 mins after sitting at a table to be acknowledged but in the meantime two other tables had come in and the waitress had taken their orders. I'm not much of a judge on attire but do think a waitress should dress appropriately. The waitress had on too tight black leggings that you could see her leopard print underwear through. After we received our pizza, which was very good, my husband asked the waitress for some forks. The waitress asked how many because there wasn't any clean ones and she would have to wash some. He told her four and I watched her go to the dirty dishes bin, grab out four forks, and proceeded to wash them with a Clorox-type disinfectant wipe. Not sure how that would've passed if a health inspector would've been in the restaurant and witnessed that!

Definitely worth the trip to Sabula for the *delicious* wood-fired pizza and the quirky and fun one-man's-junk-is-another-man's-treasure decor. The owner is very friendly and will tell you all about the restaurant and the food. There is a gluten free and vegan option, but you may want to call ahead to be sure they have the ingredients on hand.

We got the impression that some community members do not support the owner's endeavors (he doesn't exactly blend in with the locals), which is a shame. This place deserves to succeed! Check out their Facebook page for info on live music nights and more photos.

We visited this unassuming restaurant with friends and would definitely return. Expect fun, funky decor. The chicken pesto pizza was excellent and there were many more choices including Thai pizza.
