At $100 base price, it's a bit higher than most motels I generally frequent however, for that 100 bucks, the overall value is super. Huge room, great bed with 4 exceptional pillows. Restroom size was ample as well. Everything was spic and span clean. Amenities include pool, excercise room, lounge, and restaurant - everything is right there and we used them all. Way above average breakfast with omelettes and bisquits and gravy among lots of fresh fruit and other carb options. Lots of parking with extra thought even put into the landscaping. I prefer outdoor access rooms but all else makes this a very nice place.

After being used to staying in a B&B type of lodging, I was looking for an adequate but nice hotel. There are not very many accomodations in this part of Iowa either, but the Red Coach Inn fit the bill. It was very pleasant, nice, quiet with a restaurant on the premises. We could not have asked for a nicer place for a one night stay on our way to Nebraska. I would recommend this hotel even for anyone who might be planning to stay in Omaha, you might consider the Red Coach as an option.

The renovated Red Coach Inn is a much nicer place than it used to be and nicer than the alternatives (which are few). We stayed two nights for Memorial Day weekend in a king size bed handicapped room. We didn't (yet) need a handicapped room, but that was pretty much all they had left since some wedding guests had pretty much filled almost every room. I'm sure management was pleased when they tallied up the receipts !
Some guests were noisy (they sounded like they were right next door in 116) with loud conversation until about 2 AM. The walls, at least the one between 118 and 116, must be pretty thin. It was irritating, but not enough to call.
The room was spacious and nicely decorated, but otherwise pretty typical for a mid-range motel. The continental breakfast was limited and the room was crowded due to so many guests. But it was sufficient and fast. We didn't try the restaurant as it was closed for breakfast and on Sunday night.
There is a little cafe (Jim's Diner) in town on Broadway (Highway 48) if you'd rather have a hot breakfast. We went there one morning and it was better than average. Red Oak used to have several cafes - around the square mostly - but they haven't been able to stay in business. Not enough old timers hanging out downtown, I guess.
You can also go out to Deb's at Viking Lake State Park near Stanton which is only about 10 miles east. The park and lake are pretty and Stanton itself is worthy of a quick visit, especially if you've got any Swede in you.
Deb's is a good alternative and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Ham and cheese omelet with hash browns and whole wheat toast was tasty. Their shrimp basket is pretty good; the lemon cream pie is pretty bad (the cream tasted like diluted marshmallow topping).
The Hy-Vee grocery, also on Broadway, is a good place for snacks, forgotten items, etc. One can also find a lot of miscellaneous stuff at the nearby Shopko.
Costs in general are reasonable for what you get.
Red Coach is worthy of a high 3 star or low 4 star rating.

It truely was a very busy weekend with all the rooms being occupied when you stayed with us. I hope that you were not offended by staying in the handicap room but we try to fill all other room types first, then we fill the handicap rooms. The front desk is staffed 24 hours a day so someone would have been available to let the guests next door know if they were getting a little too loud for you. Many of our guests enjoy the comfort of the beds and pillows and we like to have our guests get a peaceful nights rest. Hope that you will return to the Red Coach Inn!

I have relatives in Red Oak, and have travelled there many, many times to visit. I used to stay in the Super 8, but that place has become extremely run down. Since they remodeled the Red Coach, I started staying there. It is about $20 more than the Super 8, but much, much nicer. Their pool works (Super 8 closed theirs years ago due to cost), and the property is very nice. The beds are comfortable. Their cancellation policy is 4pm the day of the reservation, and they tell you that when you make the reservation. The only thing that could be improved is the free breakfast. It is basically carb overload. Not a good selection of breakfast items, needs more fruit options, and there are no meat or egg options. They have a full kitchen on site. Why not put out a pan of scrambled eggs or bacon? I wanted to eat at the restaurant instead for breakfast, but it is not open that early.

Thank you for recently staying here at the Red Coach Inn and your comments about your stay.

Our continental breakfast offers the usual items of danishes, muffins, breads, cereals, cups of fruit , orange and apple juice, hard boiled eggs and 2 types of premade omelets. I am sorry that you were disappointed with the selections as we try to make a variety of items available.

I hope that you will again return to the Red Coach Inn.

This was a pleasant surprise discovered on a business trip. The hotel has updated furnishings and comfortable beds/pillows. They do have refrigerators for your rooms upon request and if available. There is a restaurant/lounge attached to the hotel. Great find and comfortable stay!

We spent one night at the Red Coach, and wish we would have had more time. We didn't get in until 1am, so we weren't able to try out the pool or do much else besides sleep at the hotel. Our queen bed was comfortable, and it was nice to have a loveseat in the room. $99 seemed a bit steep, especially because the breakfast selection was a little limited. But, the hotel was very clean, and quiet overall. We look forward to a future stay.

We stayed here when our friend passed away. Sad circumstances, but found the hotel to be quite lovely and the staff warm and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was very good. We didn't get a chance to use pool or restaurant or lounge so can't really comment on them.
