“why pay more for a five star hotel?”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

Stuart and Deborah.
We stayed with Sian and Gary for the first time on 7th May 2013, great friendly greeting, we were then offered tea and cake in the garden as it was such a nice afternoon. Being cheeky we had a bottle of bubbly in the car and asked if they minded if we had it in the garden, Sian was more than happy and got us glasses and even chilled the bottle for us. As she had been so great we invited her to join us for a glass! Dinner was home cooked and really tasty (you do have to book this in advance and we were glad we did) the whole meal was lovely and very well priced. Our room had great views with the loch in the distance looking out over sheep fields and spring baby lambs running about. The bed was a four poster and the room was really clean and tidy with a well appointed en-suite bathroom. Blarcreen House is a little hidden away gem and we look forward to staying again when next in Scotland. Thanks again Sian and Gary great place!

We've been back, we're going back again and if you haven't been to this gem on the banks of Loch Etive then you really must try it. Blarcreen House is the ultimate in hospitality experiences and gets better every time we go there. Whether you are on the trip of lifetime and indulging life's luxuries or merely enjoy superb comfort, hospitality, a friendly chat, and great breakfasts to set you up for the day then Blarcreen is the place to find what you want. Sian and Garry have taken this already great guest house and lifted it to new heights.

Does not seem to have been a recent review so thought I would say that we found Blarcreen to be as good as previous reviewers. Great spot. Seems remote but easily accessible. It would be a bit of a trip back to nearest restaurant so we arranged to eat there. Food was very good. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast good too. We enjoyed it all and visiting the nearby Priory Garden on way home.

Feel must tell the world about this wonderful place to stay, but...... concerned there won't be room for me in the future if too many people know about it.
My work takes me throughout the U.K., and I always try to stay in family-run B&Bs or Guest Houses.
I've now stayed three times at Blarcreen House and each time, everything has been just tremendous, with a fridge (no noise) in the room, fresh milk for the morning coffee heart starter, roaring open fire and speedy Broadband, much appreciated pluses.
Each time, I've hung out of my bedroom window and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOhed at the view down Loch Etive.
The journey from the main road is slow, but the views, as you drive alongside the Loch are breath taking and different every day. Last time the loch was sky blue, with snow on the tops of the distant mountains. Yum!!!!

Room Tip: There is a room on each corner of the first floor. I've stayed in the same one each time, and li...

Lost count of how many times we have stayed here, as a couple and with friends and family since 1996. We all love it, attention to detail is second to none, and the welcome and attention is spot on. Comfy, warm and the food is yummy nothing is too much trouble. Be prepared for 20-25min drive from Connel bridge depending what you see on the water as you go, it is worth the drive.

Another trip to Blarcreen House and two nights of blissful r+r. The house is fabulous while Sian and Garry are attentive (but not too attentive!) hosts. Housekeeping standards are spot-on and spotless while Garry's breakfasts offer great quality and choice. The surroundings are equally as delightful. This house deserves its five star rating and is a superb base for both Oban and the wider area. It will never disappoint you.

Room Tip: We've looked at all the rooms here and all are great but the four posters are the best!

Unfortunately only stayed for one night after a week on a yacht! Everything was absolutely great - the standard of the room, beds, bathroom, food etc etc etc. You could not wish for more. They deserve to make a go of it. Bijou B & B at its best. Thank you.

Room Tip: The four poster was fun!
