We went to Buen Gusto because of positive Trip Advisor reviews. Never having eaten Salvadoran food before, we didn't know what to expect. The food was good, as was the Horchata (rice drink). Service was slow and not especially welcoming, but overall, the experience was good and we'd return if we're ever in Perry again.

El Buen Gusto is an authentic family-owned El Salvadorean restaurant. They are open seven days a week and they are now located in downtown Perry across from the Ben Franklin store. They have specials like Edith's Roast Beef or Carlos' Golden Chicken, but they are known for their Pupusas. If you have never had a pupusa, you don't know what you are missing. It is a thick homemade torrilla stuffed with cheese, pork or beans. It is then topped with a spicy cole slaw mixture. One of my other favorites is the carne asada tacos. There are several salsas to choose from, but the salsa verde is the best. We are so glad that the Barco family opened El Buen Gusto!
