When traveling from Texas to Rochester MN we travel with our pets and always try to find an LQ on our way. What a pleasant surprise to find that Lakeside Resort in Osceola IA is a pet
Friendly Resort. This makes our trip much more enjoyable. The Buffet offers a wide variety of food
at a reasonable price. They have the breakfast buffet on Sat and Sun but you can order off the menu at any time and the prices are very reasonable.

It is a convenient place to stop Easy off and on the Interstate with not having to worry about the city traffic. Every employee there was pleasant and helpful and the entire campus is handicap
accessible.
Last but not least are the rooms. Very nice size and instead of a tub you have to climb in and out of we had a very nice walk in shower

When traveling to the area I have always stayed in Creston at the Supertel Inn. Not anymore! For the same price you get a pool, a hot tub and amenities galore! I can't say enough about this place. Everyone was so nice (Shout out to Catherine who went above and beyond) and the rest of the staff who was so friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The buffet was great with a good selection. I will definitely be back! It is worth the drive back and forth to Creston.

Room Tip: The lower level rooms with the walk out patios rock!

Our first trip to Lakeside and celebrating our 12th anniversary. We had no troubles, comfortable, quiet and clean room. The buffets were tasty and hot with a good selection too. The workers were pleasant and the housekeeping staff smiled, smiled and smiled. When the workers smile, they are working for a good company and management. The salt water pool was a pleasant surprise and very enjoyable. We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Quiet room away from the hall to the casino from the hotel lobby.

I just read a review that Prairie Meadows is their first choice, I strongly disagree. The staff at Lakeside is above and beyond that of Prairie Meadows. The food is better, the atmosphere is better, and the outside concerts are GREAT! We love that we can bring our own lawn chairs and sit wherever we are comfortable. It's relaxing on the water and the entertainment is always enjoyable. We live over an hour away and always willing to drive for a fun day/evening get away.

There are 2 casino hotels in the Des Moines area...this is my 2nd choice. The main reasons I  give this casino 3 stars is because it is sooo far away (35 + min) from Des Moines...in the middle of a fairly rural area with few amenities or attractions. Also, I'm afraid it just doesnt compare to Prairie Meadows...dont get me wrong, I've come here to just gamble for many years...but now that I've stayed in the hotel I can say it takes a distant 2nd to PM.Some pros: fairly loose slots. Overall clean hotel/casino. Decent buffet. Decent gift shop. Nice little bar. Very pleasant staff especially at buffet. Decent hotel discount for club players and decent comps. Now the negatives....far away location.  Limited small casino. No waitress service. Low energy in casino most the time. The hotel though newer was rather poorly designed and cheaply executed...thin walls and floors we extremely evident (constant noise). No coffee makers (though there was micro and fridge) but its a coffee maker most people want to see...There was NO closet just a rod! Tipped and asked maid service for extra towels n soaps but got neither. Fairly unprofessional desk/ reservations over the phone...she sounded like she worked at a gas station. No nightly entertainment. Small pool area- not clean. Small silly gym... I'm gonna stop here....The botton line is this hotel/casino just does just does not even compete with Prairie Meadows and though its fine for lunch and alittle slot play...the better stay and play experience clearly goes to PM.
