The Barefoot Bar is located on the shore of East Lake Okoboji and is the nearest thing to a key west bar located in the middle of a rural state like Iowa! There are tables over looking the lake and also overlooking the entertainment areas. Many tables are under Tiki type shelters, umbrellas or palm trees. Wait persons bring all beverages but you have to go to a self service area for food. Both the drinks and the food are average...but that is not what people come for....it is the people watching, dancing and having a fun time. Most people come by boat and therefore are dressed in swim attire. The Barefoot Bar maintains several long docks for people to park their boat while on shore. There is a very small beach, but also a nice play area for children. During the peak season there is usually entertainment on Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evenings. The bar is also located within a marina with gas and other boat equipment for sale. It is a very unique setting for rural Iowa!
