I don't know if the problem I experienced is just at this particular Quality Inn or if it is a corporate policy, but I think all travelers should be aware of it. While staying at Quality Inn, Newton, Iowa, October 3, 2007 both my cousin and I could only use our cell phones outside in the parking lot which is next to Interstate 80. Could be real fun in the winter. We both have different providers and phones. His gave a message "emergency use only", whereas mine showed a question mark in the signal area. On this trip he and I stayed at two other hotel chains and could use our phones inside the building and inside our rooms. This is a real inconvenience to the customer. Our trip was for a family funeral, and we had to make numerous phone calls. To be fair, our rooms were fine, breakfast was good and the rate was very accomodating. I feel that travelers may want to consider other hotels if they have a need to make many calls. Talking over the truck traffic in the wind and cold is not much fun. With the new Iowa Speedway close by, I implore the manager and/or company officials to change this policy. Your loss of business could be substantial, when you should see a great increase from race fans.
