“great place for family”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2013

This is a great place to bring a family. The resort is super clean, and there are tons of activities to keep you busy. Only complaint is the restaurant. Breakfast served is great, the dinner food has been a dissappointment. Don't let that stop you though. There is a gas grill located at the pavillion by the park. Bring your own food to grill and enjoy a great view of the lake. The park is close enough for the kids to play while you cook the food.

The workers at the resort were very friendly. The atmosphere, water play area and surroundings were very nice. I didn't get to play the golf course, but it looked very nice also. I would recommend this hotel. There are also cabins to rent and a lake to fish on.

Went here for 2 nights on during spring break with our 2 kids (6 and 4). The water park was perfect for that age. It seemed like it was geared to kids up to about 4th grade. The water was never deeper than 3.5 feet and there were several things to do. Lazy river, slide, basketball hoop and small kids area.

The weather was awful so we didn't get to try any outdoor activities.

We had breakfast twice at the restaurant and the buffet was good both times with different offerings each day. Had supper there one night. Service was a little slow even though they weren't busy, but the food was good.

All in all a good experience and the Living Social deal made it an outstanding value.

Just spent 2 nights here April 22-23, this is a very nice place, with great accommodations, great staff and very good restaurants. This place was built first class maybe to nice for the area. The water park is fun the only thing to be aware of is until school ends, it is only open from 4-9pm. Lake is in easy waking distance and there is a marina close by, was not operating while we were there. Again very nice place!

We bought a 2 night stay with waterpark passes at Honey Creek through LivingSocial. We made our reservations and went on our trip this past weekend, for a Sunday & Monday night stay. The hotel and property are beautiful, the food is good, the staff is friendly...but, part of the reason we went was for the water park. (which, calling it a 'water park' might be a little overstated, in my opinion) When I made my reservation over the phone, they said check in time is 4 pm, but you can come early and use the waterpark all day, as well as all day after check out. which would have been great for our 2 year old who was over the moon excited about the water park. BUT, the kiddie pool was closed all evening on sunday, and then when we got up on Monday to go back, the hours said it didn't open until 4 pm on monday (Winter hours..) So, needless to say, we were dissapointed. Not much to do in Moravia, IA with a 2 year old when it's snowing..So we checked out a day early. But, when i got in touch with the hotel General Manager about my dissapointment, he was very helpful and apologetic, and has offered to have us back to the resort and stay 2 nights again for free, to make up for the dissapointing stay. We look foward to going back later in the spring/early summer to experience the resort again when the outdoor activities and offerings are available as well.

I was watching KMOV channel 4 and happened to see DEAL OF THE DAY for Honey Creek Resort. A three night stay for 250.00. What a deal!! I thought and acted on impulse since I worked for a school and had spring break coming soon and my son lived just an hour from there in Iowa. First off, the DEAL of paying 250.00 was stated as being half off!!So 500.00.I was at fault for not investigating further! 119.00 standard rooms do not add up to 500.00..Ok,so my impulse at fault. I made reservation for 2 night stay (fully aware of losing a night stay of THE DEAL).When making reservation, staff acted aware of deal.During check in,staff was not aware when i gave them the KMOV gift card, asked another staff for help...asked for credit card and assured me not to charge on it..
Well...bad weather reported to set in. I have to only stay one night not to get caught in snow storm. So, my 3night deal is cut short to one night...I lost one by choice..one by the weather....i get it...stuff happens...but..low and behold...I check out...and YEP THEY RUN MY CARD!!!After a few converastions with manager...she gives me cash back for the one night and explains they sre not set up yet for the KMOV DEAL.Hmmm..live and learn.

Property and interiors is refreshing and impressive. We will plan to return in summer because there will be more outdoor activities. Indoor water park is very basic and more suitable for toddlers/ younger children. Water park was pretty full and we had to wait to get a chair. Our ten year old was excited to play but not too excited to go back after one visit. Room was very clean and well maintained. We had a lake view room on first floor ( not very far from main entrance) and our ten year old didnt want to get off the comfy chair by the window watching the birds dive in and out of icy waters. Restaurant service can definitely be improved. First we had to wait for close to 20 min for a quesadilla we ordered and finally when it was served, it was different from what was on the menu. We pointed out and the waitress who was serving us told the cook messed up and had to wait another 15 min before she remembered to bring it to our table. Since we had bought this deal on Living Social, breakfast was included in our stay. When we gave her the coupon for breakfast, she did mention however that she wouldnt have charged for breakfast because of the mix up.
It would be nice if the hotel staff posted signs in hallways to "maintain silence" because there were kids running, screaming in hallways in their bathing suits. Its quite understandable that kids have fun during vacation but the parents should make sure to control their kids and not disturb other guests around them.
Overall the experience was very good.
