“LOVE it! Beautiful, unique, restful Wow!”

This was the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Beyond the beauty, the staff was amazing and dinner was truly 5 star. Incredibly comfortable room w/ heated bathroom floor and dimming lights you adjust from bed and plasma hd tv. Lots of neat public areas to relax. Neat shopping area next door and park across the street. Historic architecture and other interesting things in town - not the "middle of nowhere" in spite of location. And so very beautiful!

Room Tip: There is only one historic room with complete original features. Book early to get it. Otherwise the...

Will definitely be staying here again when in town for business. Service was excellent and the food from the 1920's restaurant was five star! My room was beautifully furnished with all the comfort of today's amenities.

My girlfriend surprised me with a trip here for an early Christmas gift. As an enthusiast of this architecture I was awed when we arrived. We highly advise taking the architectural tour of the hotel. The room was comfortable, the staff was great! We ate a tasty dinner at the 1910 Grille which is attached to the hotel. Only a six hour drive from Chicago, looking forward to another trip here!

This is a "must stay" for anyone who loves architecture. The building has recently been restored saving the last Frank Lloyd Wright hotel in the world. All furnishings, carpets, and artwork reflect Wright's designs and public spaces such as the skylight room and old banking rooms are beautiful. The staff is friendly and be sure to eat at the 1910 restaurant. Best restaurant in northern Iowa!

Room Tip: I did not stay (but did see) the 3rd floor room on the NE corner. It looks out onto the park with a...

For FLW fans a stay in the Historic Park Inn is a must if you are in the area. They have spent close to 19 million dollars renovating this property and have done an amazing job. The rooms are spacious with flat screen TVs. Frank would not approve but it's the 21st century. Cot entail breakfast provided including Starbucks Coffee. The breakfast room is on the second floor where you can go outside on the balcony area that overlooks a pristine Central Park. The downtown area needs more restaurants, shopping, etc. Bonus points for being a half mile from FLWs Stockman House.

Beautiful facility, well appointed, central location. This is the only hotel designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and has been well cared for. While I enjoyed this short-term experience, rooms and facilities were not designed to accomodate larger people.....doors, ceilings are low, halls are cramped. Outside of that claustrophobic part of the experience, this is a four star facility with top notch appointments. Did not have the opportunity to try it, bit the reputation of the hotel restaurant is also highly recommended. Would not recommend for traveling families on a budget or in search of distractions for kids. The continental breakfast was very good as well.

Room Tip: Next time would probably opt for a physically larger room as our queen size was very cramped.

We recently spent the night at the Historic Park Inn. It is a wonderful hotel that blends history with modern charm. The room are nicely furnished and the hotel has interesting areas to sit and visit. They give tours Thursday-Sunday at 11:00. The docent explained the history and restoration. It is a fabulous place for history lovers and other to enjoy. If you can't spend the night there is a bar in the basement were you can enjoy a drink or appetizer. Mason City is proud of this historic gem.

Room Tip: I brought my two children with me. We had the room with a fold out couch. It was small. One child...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Historic Park Inn Hotel, together with City National Bank, of Mason City Iowa were designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as a dual purpose building and completed in 1910. The design greatly influenced architecture in Europe and is as striking today as it ever was. The Park Inn Hotel is the last Wright designed hotel in the world, and has undergone a nearly 20 million renovation; the restoration of the distinctive brick and terra-cotta façade as well as art glass windows has restored the Prairie School building to a functional hotel. The interior, while renovated into a contemporary hotel, has public areas and guest rooms restored as closely to Wright's design as possible. Art glass and much else designed by Wright remains. Public area furnishings are period-style and include reproduction Robie House Lights, reproductions of the Mercury statues Richard Bock and Wright designed for the bank, and reproductions of the barrel chairs Wright designed for the bank directors' room. We invite you to come and stay with us in the center of the many area attractions Mason City has to offer. ... more   less
