Chose this location on our route from Toronto to San Francisco because they were pet friendly. We were happily surprised when we found the hotel not only very nice with a very large room, bathroom and sitting area, but the local attraction of Antique Archaeology made it even better. We visited both Antique Archaeology and 4 Miles to Memphis, and had an early dinner at the Blue Iguana. The coconut margarita rocks! A nice stroll along the Mississipi rounded off the day...if we are ever that way again, it will definitely be a place we stop !

Room Tip: Riverview rooms are great!

Hotel was clean and comfy, but very expensive compared to nearby hotels (wish we had called around before booking). Breakfast was typical for the chain (not great, but edible). River view is exquisite, but the hotel is adjacent to some VERY active train tracks. The trains run all night long and they honk their horns loudly and excessively, so this isnt the place for a decent night's sleep. A terrible experience. How do people live in this horrid noisy town?

Room Tip: Stay in a different hotel.

Thanks for the review, Mary.

We're glad you enjoyed the views and amenities during your stay. As it is busy town on trade lines, rains do occasionally pass through Le Claire, but usually on a less frequent basis than that you described. Most of our guests have few complaints in regard to sleeping through the night, as you'll notice from past reviews.

Thanks again,
Sam

We rolled into LeClaire expecting to stay at the Comfort Inn. However, there were drag races that weekend and both the Comfort Inn and Super 8 were booked. Holiday Inn Express is right across the road, so we went there. Ouch. Very expensive. The room was nice, king bed and sofa with table. We couldn't park our bikes under the front overhang which was a surprise, we have always been able to do that at hotels/motels as long as we keep them to one side out of the way. The breakfast was awesome, they have a pancake machine! I have tired of the waffles most hotels offer so pancakes was a pleasant surprise. The rest of the breakfast was tasty, too. We probably wouldn't stay here again because of the price, but if that's not an issue for you, I would recommend a stay here.

This hotel is right next to the Mississippi River. We booked a suite with a river view. We were able to sit out on our balcony and watch the river go by. The suite was clean and very large. There are restaurants and fast food nearby with more restaurants in downtown Le Clair which is only a mile drive away. The only con was the breakfast. Maybe we got there just after a large crownd left or something but the breakfast was disappointment. The chain's signature cinnamon rolls were cold, the pancake maker was out of batter and most of the tables hadn't been cleaned.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a river view on the 2nd or 3rd floor. They do cost a little more but you will g...

We were on a cross-country roadtrip and just needed a place to stay somewhere in the vicinity of Davenport, IA. Something was going on in town and most of the hotels in Davenport were sold out, so somehow we found this Holiday Inn Express in nearby Le Claire. We were traveling with our dog and this was one of the few hotels in the area that had availability and allowed dogs. We weren't expecting much, other than a place to sleep.

But this turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. The hotel was nicer than we thought it would be and Le Claire was a big treat. The property is located almost right on the river bank and our room had a nice view of the water that made it feel special. The front desk staff was incredibly warm and welcoming and went out of their way to acknowledge that I'm a member of Priority Club by letting me choose snacks from a basket of options and giving me two bottles of water. Then inside the room there was a small package of candy on the desk with a note from the general manager thinking me for being a member of Priority Club.

The room was spotless and the beds were extremely comfortable. I will say that the lobby is a bit dark and I was worried that the rooms would be like dungeons, but that wasn't the case at all,

If you stay at this hotel and have some free time, definitely go into downtown Le Claire and walk around. It's small but super cute with many great shops and restaurants, plus a nice riverfront with a Buffalo Bill Museum (he was from Le Claire!), an old paddle-powered riverboat, and other river-centric stuff. Definitely worth an hour or two strolling around.

My only negative with the hotel is the breakfast. It was ok, but nothing special. I think it's fairly standard for HI Express, which I think is inferior to Hampton Inns we've stayed at. My biggest complaint is how unhealthy it is. There are things like bacon and biscuits and gravy, but no oatmeal or fresh fruit. I think there was nasty canned fruit soaked in syrup, but not a whole banana or apple in sight.

I'd definitely stay here again, but would just plan to eat breakfast somewhere else.

This is a very good small town chain hotel. The hotel was clean, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast included breakfast meat, eggs and pancakes, all a decent rate and it was located right on the Mississippi. What more can you ask for?

Room Tip: There are train tracks between the road and the hotel which are noticable when trains go through dur...

I have stayed at a dozen or so Holiday Inn Express properties, because I do a lot of traveling for work. This property is not a bad choice if you are looking for a Holiday Inn hotel in this area. The room itself was excellent though stay on the river side of the hotel. Housekeeping did a great job with cleaning the room. My room was on the hotel's backside and traintracks are very, very close marked with occasional trains.

The staff were lukewarm in the category of friendliness. When I checked in the front desk staff failed to recognize me as a Priority Club Member and seemed perturbed when I requested a room upgrade under the Platinum Member guidelines. The breakfast attendant took good care of keeping food fresh. Overall, I would stay here again.
