Owner description: LeClaire, Iowa. It's a special place. A place where life on the land is intimately married to the flow of the waters. For centuries, people here have looked to the water for a sense of calm, a spirit of enjoyment and a connection to a heritage that is uniquely their own. That marriage of land and water is now embodied in a different kind of spirit. The Mississippi River Distilling Company hand craft Vodka, Gin, Whiskey, and Specialty Spirits slow and pure near the banks of the Mississippi River. Born from the finest grains, harvested just up the hill from the distillery. It’s a spirit born of land and water that draws each of us curiously back to a different era. Made for you, not for for the masses.

“Unique Tour and Tasting”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

They provide free tours and tastings on the hour. The tour is very interesting as they explain how the distillery was started two years ago and how their products are made. At the end of the tour they provide tastings of their products. They are limited by state law in how much they can serve. The first Friday of every month they are open in the evening and this has become a real social event! This is a great place to take family and friends visiting from out of town.

“Informative tour and free samples”
Reviewed November 28, 2012 via mobile

We were in LeClaire for a family reunion and walked here for the tour. The tour is about 30 minutes and they emphasize the fact that they use all locally grown products to make their products. The alcohol is hand bottled and corked and you can even track information about your bottle online. After the tour you are allowed to sample the products and I tried the vodka with a splash of blood orange Italian soda. It was excellent and if we hasn't had to get on a plane to bring it home we would have bought some.

If you are in LeClaire for the day stop here and check out their tour.

“Fun, interesting tour”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

We love this tour and the products they make. Everything is bought locally, and with conservation in mind. Great informal tour, and the product samples are a wonderful bonus. Come check it out on the First Friday of the month to sample recipes made with the liquors, as well as specialty drink samples made with their liquors. Perfect addition to an already charming downtown area!

“Excellent day trip”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Le Claire is a cute little town on the Mississippi River in Iowa and right next to I-80.
Many gift & antique shops, along with the wine shops. Stopped at the Mississippi River Distilling Co. and had an interesting tour by one of the owners who told us how the entire company uses the local resources and supplies for it's business. Yeah.
We had lunch at the Crane & Pelican which is an old mansion converted into a restaurant with an excellent gourmet flair.
The town also has a Buffalow Bill Museum and Antique Archaeology home of the "American Pickers" TV show. I expected to see a huge warehouse type store, but it turned out to be a small old gas station. We did see a few items that we have seen them purchase on the show.
We toured the town on a weekday to avoid the crowds on the weekend, and it was worth it.
