We stayed at The Bell for just one night. It was perfect. We upgraded to a 'deluxe' room (Superking bed!) which had just been refurbished overlooking the road. We were slightly concerned that it might be noisy but the sound proofing cut out the noise of the cars. Within 15 minutes a group of donkeys, ponies and pigs walked past the hotel. Lovely!!! The room was decorated beautifully and the bathroom was delightful and sparkling clean. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and the staff could not have been more helpful. So much so much that after we returned home I contacted them to find out the colour of the paint in our room and Tracy the receptionist even managed to send me a photo of the time of paint!!! Beautiful setting and perfect if you are a golfer.

We stayed for two nights, the rooms on the ground floor face the road which is extremely busy and noisy for such a picturesque little place, we were amazed at the volume of traffic, we couldn't sleep with a window open it was just too noisy, the only time the traffic eased up was around 3-4am. on a positive note the staff were all very nice, efficient and helpful, whoever is recruiting and training is getting it just right. Breakfast was perfect, plenty of choice. We had one evening meal, an imaginative menu but desperately lacking in vegetarian options, I managed to cobble something together from side dishes and a starter, the staff were very happy for me to do this and the food was very good. Dessert choice was very good and service in the restaurant was exceptional. Great location, nice welcoming staff and good food, maybe we were unlucky with our room but probably wouldn't return here because of the noisy road

Heard about this gem through a voucher scheme. It is in a small hamlet in the North East corner of the New Forest, not far from the M27 but seemed like a world away. The welcome was friendly and unpretentious and this carried through with all the staff. The hotel is currently undergoing an upgrade and we were lucky enough to have one of the rooms that had been completed. Painting was still going on which, as we all know leaves a lingering smell, but that cannot be helped and the end result will be worth it. We had a deluxe room - No. 16 - on the first floor overlooking the road. The road is a well used B road during the day but it quietens down overnight and there is secondary double glazing to shut out any noise. We always sleep with a window open and had one of our best nights sleep ever. The room was very spacious with a large and very comfortable bed and fleece lined curtains that would keep out a hurricane! The en suite did not have a bath but did have a lovely, generous sized power shower. Everything you could need and new and fresh. I believe the hotel will have to update its web page to accurately show the rooms in their new guise. Downstairs the bar is nicely furnished as is the restaurant. It cannot go without mention that the dining experience was superb. We like dipping into fine dining restaurants in London and this was very definitely up there! The New Forest breakfast was also good and so generous that I couldn't finish it. We sincerely hope that we can return some time in the future.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend. Excellent location. We booked via Groupon and this included a meal on the first night which was superb. Breakfast was excellent and constantly being replenished so was very fresh. The room (22) was spacious and well decorated and the bathroom was finished to a high standard. What also made it so fabulous was the staff. They were friendly and welcoming and a credit to the hotel. We will definitely visit again.

Room Tip: Room 22 was lovely

Had a great stay at this every comfortable hotel. All the staff made us feel special and the food was very good. The scenery, the proximity to the forest was just across the road and 2 golf courses right on the door stop. Very convenient for the M27 and Bournemouth, Christchurch etc. With Lyndhurst and Lymington close by with plenty to do. Good pub across the road and the Faithful Servant pub just along the road selling the best pies etc. I have ever eaten . Highly recommened.

Room Tip: Some rooms face the main road but are double glazed so were not a problem.

We stayed a Saturday night at this great hotel to celebrate a friends 50th birthday and we all really had a superb time especially helped by the assistance of Adam who made sure everything went perfectly. Our seven rooms were comfortable & all together on the ground floor which made it so easy to keep together and the lounge and bar were intimate and comfy. We had the private dining room for dinner with the food being exceptional and the service impeccable. Breakfast was delicious and Alfonso & Adam (again - he does work hard!) made sure that we all ate hot food perfectly cooked by the chefs! I would like to thank all the staff who couldn't have been more helpful & I would recommend this lovely find to anyone! Thank you everyone at The Bell Inn......

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Bell Hotel which was purchased via Groupon deal.

I was not sure what expect as the deal seemed too good to be true and we were travelling with our dog for the first time!
I was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is very nice; we had room 7, referred to in a previous review. I have to say we were unaware of any noise from the cattle grid outside; it was clean and very comfortable.
When we went to the restaurant on the first evening we had been allocated a table in a very nice bar area with an open fire and the bar man asked where our dog was. He clearly knew we were staying with a dog and was expecting him to join us for dinner!
After dinner, which was very good, we sat with the dog in the bar area, near the roaring log fire on some very comfortable sofas and enjoyed a very relaxing evening. There was also another couple enjoying dinner with their four legged friend.
When we returned to our room the next day, having been out for the day, the cleaner had filled the dog bowl with fresh water for our return, a very nice touch.
What really impressed me was everyone from reception to bar staff clearly knew who the guests were and their requirements.
All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The service was very good and it was a very pleasant relaxing 2 night break.
I would highly recommend the hotel, especially if taking your dog with you. I must admit that The Bell has been set the standard very high and I will be measuring other dog friendly accommodation against The Bell.
