I am going to be reviewing the Knoxville Nationals. The Knoxville Nationals are a bunch of sprint car races throughout a week. While the Knoxville Nationals are in the middle of nowhere, it offers a full week of fun and entertainment. They wrap up the race season and help to determine the points champion. Sprint cars are dirt track cars with one side’s tires bigger than the other side to help with the high speed turns. It is the first week in August and has a race every day for six days Monday through Saturday. Every night at about seven o’clock the cars get out on the track to warm up the engines then they are qualifying by 8 o’clock. Then the races begin with a few heat races and then a last chance race and the feature. There are a few criteria upon which I will be judging the Nationals.
At the Knoxville Nationals you’ll find some of the best racing that you will ever see. All the races are as if the racers are racing to save their lives. They are fast paced and full of action. And we all know that everyone likes to see the wrecks and there are usually some exciting wrecks. All the drivers are professionals and it is the last race of the season and Knoxville is one of the best tracks for sprint cars. There is even a museum that you can go into and watch the races from if you don’t want to sit outside.
The food at the Nationals is like being at a fair, it’s mostly bad for you but it’s still so good. But not all the food there is fried they have many nice restaurants in town. Udders is a very nice steak house where you get to watch the cooks cook your steak or even cook it yourself. They have all different kinds of booths. There is anything from cheeseburgers and pork chops to corn dogs and pizza. Of course there are also a lot of dessert booths where you can get funnel cake and ice cream and other sweet treats.
The whole place is always awake. There is something to do at any time, whether the races are going on or not. There are a few night clubs and a couple bars there are go karts for younger kids and a shopping mall that my mom loves to go to and there is even a theme park about thirty minutes away. There is a Wal-Mart for everything you could accidentally need and a few grocery stores if you want to cook out. There is a movie rental place if you get bored during the day, and even a movie theater downtown. If you come to Knoxville a few days early you can even go to Oskaloosa and see the races they have there its only about an hour away and offers a good race most the time.
You could compare this to the weekly races at Chandler motor speedway. But Chandler pales in comparison to the Nationals. Chandlers track would fit inside the pits of Knoxville’s track. I would recommend going to the Knoxville Nationals at least once in your life even if you don’t like racing very much or have never seen it. The whole place is just so much fun it’s like a weeklong party. The Knoxville Nationals offer excellent racing, a nice time with fun atmosphere, and good food.

If you are in the Knoxville area do not miss the Saturday night Sprint Car Races. The season runs from May to August. The Sprint Car Nationals are held yearly in August also.

Watch em once and you will be hooked!
