We rented a room here for our wedding night. The location was great becuase it's right downtown but the problem was that our room overlooked the beer garden of the next door bar. We had to listen to the whoops and hollars of the college kids until 2 am. The rest of the hotel was nice though and the bed was very big and comfy. I'd recommend the hotel, just make sure to ask for a different room if the noise gets too much.

We got this hotel through hotwire. We stayed at the hotel during a home football game. I can say the security at the hotel has improved since the remodel. I expected lots of loud people and parties at the hote, and was pleasantly surprised when I got a good night's sleep. The beds are comfortable. The towels are soft. They have flat screen TVs in the rooms. The front desk staff was courteous. The hotel is close to many places to eat.

This hotel has been renovated and it is really nice. The rooms are lovely, especially the beds. The service at the desk is very good, very freindly, and the location is fantastic. You can wak anywhere. The only bad thing was that the Housekeeping staff lacked a lot of attention to detail, they did not refresh coffee, shampoo, and did not do a very good job clearning the room the second day, it felt like they just made the beds and changed the towels. But overall a really nice stay.

Spent two enjoyable nights at the Sheraton on the downtown pedestrian mall in Iowa City. Asked for a quieter room (having heard concerns about noise from the mall, the center of college bar activity), and got a room on the back side, with no noise problems whatsoever. The mall side was quite lively, so this was a good choice for us. We were on the second floor, where the pool is, and had no chlorine smell either. The room had modern decor and a wonderfully comfy bed. The bath was relatively small, and lacking in towel bars, but had one of those great curved shower curtains. We opted to pay extra for in-room Internet service. They offered an option to forgo housekeeping entirely (taking green to another level beyond re-using towels), for which you earn a $5 voucher (for use on a day other than departure day). So we tried their restaurant and wine bar, Share, for breakfast. The buffet was small but superior -- beautiful fresh fruit, cinnamon oatmeal, a southwestern egg scramble, etc. We went back the next day and ordered corn cakes and strawberry stuffed french toast from the menu, all delicious and reasonably priced. Their kitchen was also open late for a mid-sized town (until 11 pm, I think) so we had a late night snack on their patio. They have a wine tasting / plate sharing theme, which includes a variety of 2 oz. wine samplers. There is also an abundance of restaurants, shopping, etc. within walking distance. The Saturday night we were there, we enjoyed a free concert just outside the hotel on the mall, where there is a playground for young children, too. Parking in the adjacent garage was free (with the hotel stamping your parking ticket). And the service at the desk and restaurant was consistently outstanding. They are also careful about security, so be ready to show your room key and ID to get in after 11 pm. We used the pool once; it's in a nice space, though the decor could use some sprucing up (with less attention focused on the giant "restrooms" signs). The hot tub was good and hot (a 4-seater, so a little small), and the pool temp was just right. If you're visiting, run to the public library, just across the mall, to pick up visitors' information.

I have never slept well away from home until my stay at the Sheraton Iowa City. Yes, the service was great, and I partook of the concierge lounge, but let's face it - you are there to have a place to relax. I relaxed. Thank you.

We stayed 7/24/10 for a wedding , which they took care of GREAT. Chech in went smooth , they were very friendly & helpful. We looked around and found the pool , hot tub , work out room & sun deck on the 2nd floor, all were very clean . This is an older hotel in the center of town near the college. The nice suprise was that just outside the rear door there was entertainment , shopping , every kind of food you could dream of and plenty of places to get a cocktail. All seemed very reasonable. I guess college kids need someting to do and they don't have much $$$ The room was nice , the beds were the best I ever slept in. No fridge in the room but you could request one.You got regular shampoo , conditioner and lotion . 2packets of starbucks African Kitamu & 1 decaff , but only 2 creamers. There is no fan in the bathroom and the rooms are not insulated very well so you can hear everything & everyone. Ther was a big clock / radio with an alarm and the AC / heater was quiet . If you are driving , you will pay $10.50 to park in the structure next door. Over all it was a great hotel at a good price. We had very good weekend and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Thanks , you made our day .

My boyfriend and I were intown for a family event and we had booked a room at the Sheraton. From the moment we arrived I was amazed by how nice and friendly the staff was. It was a busy weekend at their hotel, several weddings and events going on, and even though they had several people checking in they were kind and friendly to each person and made sure they took care of you. To me this is a rare service which is greatly appreciated. When we checked in the women told us she was giving us her favorite room, it was a corner room on the 7th floor. All the rooms have recently been renovated and they are so nice. Our bed was huge and so comfortable, I wanted all the linens to take home with me. We also took time to use their fitness room which was VERY nice. It had all the essentials, we didn't have to miss out workout just because we were out of town. We had dinner over at the restaurant called SHARE. Oh my goodness the food was so good. We sat out on the patio in the ped mall and had dinner and drinks. I was very impressed with the Sheraton in Iowa City, fantastic staff, amazing rooms and a great location. We will definitely be staying here again. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.
