“Jewel of the Prairie”
Reviewed April 22, 2012

Decided to try this place out during our cross counrty trip, as it seemed interesting in Trip Advisor. Their drink special of the day was a Prarie Mule- local vodka, lime juice and ginger beer- very good and quite a kick! Hubby had peppercorn steak ($22) and I had veggie wellington ($15)- both excellent, The chef came out to personally ask us about out meal, and shared his recipe for great "grecian potatos". This is definatley not what you are expecting in a small town in Iowa. Try it and support great local businnesses like these.

“Great lunch and dinner”
Reviewed September 1, 2011

I am in Grinnell a couple of times each year. I always eat at the Phoenix because 1) the food is fantastic, 2) the owners and staff are welcoming and friendly, and 3) they have several vegetarian options. The ingredients were fresh, local and well prepared. The garden was spectacular.
