The room itself was ok. New linens and furniture. They seem to be trying. The pool area needs work and our room smelled of mildew. I would stay somewhere else next time.

We were very pleased with the large suites (two full-size rooms)! Exterior and interior in a woods cabin style. Each room was appointed with faux stickely furniture, two tv's (one for the kids, one for the adults). Large bathroom, walk-in shower, kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave, sink). About 150% the size of most average suites. Breakfast was Ok (need to change it up on different days a little). Pool large, but shallow. Staff very helpful. Restaurant good, but many good local restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the single story rooms.

For as old as the place is, it was nice. It was clean and the staff was friendly. We ate dinner at the resteraunt, it was as good. The price was okay, but maybe could have been a little cheaper. The pool is big and nice, the hot tub was clean and perfect temp. However, they might want to have someone watching the hot tub. A lot of un-supervised children were in there on various occasions.

Cracked headboard, no electrical plate over outlet, and outdated decor made this place feel rundown. There was a huge gap to the outdoors along one side of the heating/cooling unit that created a cold draft in December. This place just needs some maintenance and updating to bring it back to what they think the room is worth.

A man working the front desk was the rudest person I have ever encountered in customer service. He told a family member that accidently locked her key in her room, that she was not a customer of the hotel (even though it was our second night staying there). He refused to help her, told her that the room number she claimed she was staying in, didn't exist. Even after other family members went to speak with the man, he still refused to help, was completely unreasonable. Only after a long argument did he call in another worker to take my family member to their room to let them in.

An hour later he approached a group of us that were in the pool area and made rude comments about how we were being too loud, and told us he had called the cops on us. (This was the first time he had attempted to speak to our group, and at no point did he actually just come out and ask us to keep our talking voices down, or that we needed to return to our rooms to continue our conversations.) Nope, instead he approached us with threats and a condescending attitude.

Beyond the horrible customer service, our bathroom had ants, our heater in the room was broken ( and it was 20 degrees or less at night), the indoor pool and spa were cold. The only redeeming quality about this place were the nice suites which a few family members rented. However, the disgraceful attitude of the front-desk clerk really overshadowed the whole experience.

On top of it all, I spoke with the other desk clerks on check-out, and e-mailed the general manager to file a complaint about the rude desk-clerk, and I have not so much as received an apology.

Our family will NOT be returning to this hotel upon our next Thanksgiving trip to Fort Dodge.

Arrived before check in time. Had to wait in the bar ( understandable ) only to find out later that some of our group had arrived and checked in. Would have been nice to wait by the pool with our group. When asked, cherk was defensive and rude, but met the minimum. ( the very minimum) . The clerk must have been previously employed by the Department of Transportation (drivers license people) .

we had a small suite, on arrival it looked pretty good, had noticed a small wet spot on one side of the bed closes to the bathroom so put a hand towel on it thinking maybe water from pool, but later detected a urine smell, yuk, then we were getting ready for bed after pulling back the bedding notices the sheets were dirty or not very well laundered, so requested new bedding and staff had asked if we wanted to change the beds ourselfs or wanted them to do it come on really, the bathroom was not the best either the shower was not clean, this was the worst as far as cleanliness, I have stay at the hotel many times and never had this experience. not that I wouldn't stay again but will check the rooms out first before I commit.
