Average Hampton, nice large room, comfy bed and large screen TV. Everyone seemed very nice. And I liked that it was decorated for Christmas. It gave the place a warm feeling.
There were a couple of things that bothered me--the in-room coffee was absolutely horrible, no tea was offered and only powdered creamer and 1 sugar, no sweetener. That seemed a little stingy to me.
Also, the breakfast--don't bother. Eat somewhere else if you can, because it is down right disgusting. It's free, but seriously it was bad. The eggs and sausage were horrible, I didn't have anything else.

Thank you for your repsonse about your stay. We are following the Hampton Standards for the breakfast items that we serve. We will pass along your concerns to Hilton who will see what they can do to improve the food. If you are looking for something specific for breakfast please just ask our staff and they will try their hardest to get you what you needed. There is not tea in the room, however there was tea in the lobby and any one of our staff would have been happy to bring some up to your room if you preferred tea. Next time you are in town we hope that you will try our property again.

This hotel is not in downtown Dubuque but located on the west side of town across from the Kennedy Mall. As you can imagine, this made it convenient to every fast and quick serve restaurant and other national and regional chain store imaginable. Here in the middle of all the asphalt was an efficient and clean hotel that gives great value and staff that gives great service. My King room and the free breakfast was everything that you should expect at a new Hampton Inn. So, if you are not looking for a scenic location but one that is close to the all major reasons for coming to Dubuque, this is the hotel to book.

We have stayed here 3 or 4 times already when visiting friends in nearby Epworth, IA. The welcome we received from the desk manager was friendly and gracious. He did recognize the fact that we stayed there before and that we were Hilton Honors members. Our room, 164, on the first floor was clean and spacious. We especially appreciate the fact that Hampton Inn now launders the bedskirt and duvet cover for every new room occupant, and there was a note stating that. Saturday morning we enjoyed the usual Hampton Inn breakfast - waffles, omelets (already made), potatoes, bacon, oatmeal, different toppings for the oatmeal and the toast, bagels and english muffins. Employees working in the breakfast made sure that everything was kept full and hot, and always asked if we needed anything. The heating/cooling system worked great! Even though we stayed from November 9 - 11, it was warm in Dubuque and we had to have the room cooled down. A small complaint we registered on Saturday night was noted, and the manager gave us an additional 10% discount for that night's stay. Not necessary, not requested, but nice. We will always stay at this Hampton Inn whenever we are in the Dubuque area.

Room Tip: Located right on US 20 (Dodge Street), there is not a restaurant on the premises but there are lots...

We stayed only one night, but it was the best night's sleep we had on our three-week vacation. This hotel is well run...excellent, friendly staff (especially "Kojack" at the front desk and Anita in the breakfast room). The room was clean, comfortable, and most importantly, quiet. Our king, nonsmoking room was nice (we had a lumpy comforter too, but it didn't matter to us). Wish our room had a bathtub, but it was okay. The pool and hot tub were nice. Breakfast was tasty, well-attended, and tables were kept clean. We would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend this great hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the backside of the hotel - away from the highway.

Had the pleasure of staying at this property while on a business trip to Dubuque in Oct 2012.

Previously, I had stayed at the "other" Hampton Inn in DBQ (located across the highway from this new property) and am very glad this property was built.

The hotel itself is very nice. It still has a new feel to it and the common spaces are open, airy and welcoming. The sleeping rooms are very spacious, the beds super comfortable, and the bathrooms large and well appointed.

The wireless internet is very fast and many, many HD channels were available on the television.

The complimentary breakfast had many healthy selections (fresh fruit, yogurt oatmeal, and more) in addition to the traditional eggs, bacon, and pastries.

This hotel's staff was extremely friendly and helpful and responsive to special requests.

Overall, a very satisfactory hotel, especially for business travelers.

My daughters and I stayed here last year while on a trip to visit family and I must say that it is one of the best Hotel's we've ever stayed in. We stayed in a King suite and it was very, very spacious, had a nice mini kitchentte with sink, small refrigerator, and microwave, along with plenty of storage for the snacks and microwave meals we brought along. With the king sized bed, the pullout sofa open, and air mattress on the floor and luggage for three people we still had plenty of room to move around. This was a really spacious room.
The room was also very clean, much cleaner than many other hotels where we've stayed in Dubuque, (and we've stayed at quite a few there).
A nice extra touch was that there was a night light near the bathroom area which I thought might be annoying at night as my children and I like it dark when we sleep but this one was motions activated so it only came on when someone got out of bed to use the bathroom. It was just bright enough to light the way to the bathroom but not enough to wake others. A very nice touch that I haven't seen at other hotels.
The staff was friendly and helpful. They really seemed to care about their guests comfort.
There are only two hotels which I would ever recommend to a friend in the Dubuque area and this is one of them. We've stayed at quite a few over the years as I have family there.
The pool is large for a hotel pool. Most hotels have pools that are not large enough to accompany all of the guests, but this one was a nice size for a hotel.
There isn't a restaurant at this hotel but it's located close to several restaurants, a Target and a grocery store in addition to quite a few other businesses.
We had some problems with some other guests that were staying there for a family event that had been smoking in places they shouldn't, bullying a girl in the pool and just being rude to everyone else at the hotel. When I talked to the staff they were very understanding and told me that they had already had other complaints and that they would talk to these guests again and that if that didn't stop the problems, they would be asked to leave the hotel. We didn't have any more problems with them. It was nice to see that the staff was so responsive. I would stay at this hotel again and recommend it to a friend.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. A big screen TV with Free HBO makes the experience even better. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud and the bed linens were luxurious. The only thing missing was a small refrigerator. The breakfast room was spacious, clean and well stocked with everything that you could wish for in a breakfast. The staff was friendly and professional. I would definitely stay here again.
