This place is just great. A wonderful family experience. Hike trails, see an old school house, view wildlife in the wild, our daughter had a great time!

Love to go hiking here. One of the few places you can take the dogs in Dubuque. Great place for the kids to learn about wildlife and commune with nature

If you like to bike and hike - this is a great place to visit. There is also a place to put a canoe in if the water level is high enough. Signage to the location is limited. Bring a cooler, bug spray, hat, proper clothing and a few hours to explore this beautiful area. You may also want to contact the Mines of Spain for some of the trail maps. There are many locations to park and start your adventure. Visit the Julien Dubuque Grave for a beautiful view of the river from the bluff.

Had a great time with daughter and dog. Trails offer beautiful views of bluffs and river. Wild flowers made every part of hike enjoyable. My advice - bring bug spray and don't use restroom. The facilities are "primitive" which is code for "worse than a porta-potty." The trails are well-marked and provide opportunities for easy to moderate hiking.

The Mines of Spain is always a great time! The trails are well maintained, there are facilities at some trails and parking is never a problem. The views are beautiful and they have a wide range of trails. Beginners can have an enjoyable time, as well as veteran hikers. All trails are also dog friendly, which is a big plus (dogs are not allowed in city parks). Remember to bring sunscreen & bug spray!
