There are a few select pieces of art on a nicely groomed walk along the Mississippi. We got some good exercise walking and observing the art. Would have loved to see more pieces of art, though. Pleasant way to enjoy the river.

Thank takrafty

The sculptures were a nice addition to natures beauty along the Mississippi River walk. Some had a whimsical theme i.e. picnic table on pontoons (we chuckled anyway) others were very complex and thought provoking.

We happened to be going through the area in the middle of the day. It wasn't an exceptionally hot day, but with no shade it was not a comfortable walk. The river is pretty smelly right along this section! There is a lot of modern art. I'm glad we looked even though we didn't walk for long. On a side note, do not follow the Google Maps directions here without making sure you've entered an address. The directions will bring you to a parking lot on the wrong side of the river. I'm adding that to save others some confusion!

Take this walk to get an overview of the river and the businesses which line the riverwalk. At the end of the walk one will find the shot tower, and this cool building with a glass case of old beer bottles.

It goes without saying that any community which invests some time and energy into developing a class A riverwalk with juried temporary public sculptures will not go wrong, and as a visitor, you can't either. If fact, when we go on family vacations we tend to seek them out. I discovered upon return from our vacation that my good friend had a sculpture here for a number of years and he had nothing but praise for the people who manage the works and grounds. If you find yourselves nearby with a little time to kill, there is no excuse NOT to take a stroll down the waterfront. And, if it's open, you can stop at the former Star brewery. See review of that as well.
