Have been to both children and adult programs at this library. They do a super job. We attended a couple of the free adult movies, most recently THE MONUMENTS MEN. Standing room only attendance for good reason - free refreshments provided - popcorn, pop, water. An inexpensive, social opportunity for movie goers...fun...My 3-year-old grandson loves the toddler story time - finger plays, stories, simple group games. A great learning opportunity.
And if you check out their website, the programs for all ages are amazing --something for everyone in your house.

This newly-renovated library provides full service to the Dubuque area, with a wide range of services and staff. There is a splendid children's area with books divided by age group and a large story area. There is a divided area for young adults and teens with computers and books for their age group. There is a large manga and graphic novel section. There's an extensive periodical collection, DVD collection, music collection; there is a fine collection of fiction for adults as well as non-fiction. There are two active information/references desks. There are meeting rooms, activity rooms, study rooms, work rooms. There is an active Website from which you can Interlibrary Loan, order books for pickup, manage your account, renew books, check out ebooks, access the card catalog, use reference materials. And the building is filled with history and art; it is a beautiful structure renovated in the past few years to expose its beautiful historic rotunda, skylight and glass stack floors. The building itself is breath-taking and you should take a trip to see it. Truly a gem for Dubuque.

My wife and I attended one of the many varied education presentations offered by the library staff and community volunteers for both children and adults. Entering this library is like entering an old city train station with its expansive high ceiling interior appointed with much carved oak trim and bookcases. There is an atmosphere of respect for education through traditional books
although the library is certainly up to speed with technology and their computer classes. My wife and I also enjoyed just looking around and enjoying the artwork on display after our presentation.
It is a nice place to take children so they can enjoy what going to a library was like years ago, and should be like now.

The library is nice, lots of interesting things to look at. The old wood on the staircase, was amazing. It is a really wonderful place to visit. If you like old buildings, go see this. The bookcases are oak, the doors are a gorgeous ornate oak. I liked looking at the building. I took my grandson, and he enjoyed it, too. The children's area is very nice, lots for kids to do, toys, books, tables, etc. They also have computers they can use. It is a nice place to visit. Sincerely, Carolyn H
