We were blown away by the quality of this museum and all the hands on activities. Interactive displays both audio and visual really added to the quality of the experience. Kids would love this place. I could easily go through this museum again and enjoy it. The facility sits on the shore and has boats to tour. The Aquarium part was smaller but still worth seeing. They told us in March they are gearing up for a huge turtle exhibit. (A reason to go back). We thought it would take us an hour or maybe two but we spent 3 hours and could have stayed even longer. Allow at least 3 hour or more to see it all. Great for Seniors cause you can step across the street, have a great lunch at the casino and gamble a bit.

“Great piece of history”

Very good and interesting museum. A lot of info and displays. The museum was set up very nicely with interactive, visual, audio as well as displayed historical items. Mixed in with the aquarium it is a nice mix to keep kids and adults interested

“So much river history!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

Dubuque should be proud of this landmark. I have not been here in a while. We have been through the muesem 6 times. The mueseum has many exhibits that show the history of the river. I have always been a river rat and love the river. The museum has several boats and a dredge that can be toured. I have not been to the Aquraium yet.

“This Aquarium is a must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

What a wonderful afternoon we spent at this aquarium. We presented our membership from a zoo in another city and were given a discount, so make sure to ask, they honor a number of memberships from all over the US. We were 3 adults, and found lots of fascinating and interesting things, but so much also for kids of all ages. Helpful staff, good handicap access. We would like to return in warmer weather and ride the riverboat, and also make time for the 4D movie. This is for sure a return visit!

This was really fun. I didn't know frogs came in so many different colors! I didn't know turtles got that big! Lots to learn about the local river!
