For a good time and a good gambling experience this casino rates well above average. Slots and table games fair and staff very friendly. Buffet is good and has plenty of choice. Hotel next to casino is a little walk but parking is ok. Has a bowling alley but have never left casino. Best casino in Dubuque.

Diamond Jo's is a great place for entertainment, the buffet is always busy. If you like your typical casino buffet and are interested in eating in quantity, it's worth the trip. Select is pretty tired, the seafood is your typical frozen not fresh. The salad bar is boring.

I am in Dubuque twice/year: easter and Christmas. This led me to diamond Jo. Looks above average from the outside..... until you walk in. Players (most) have no idea the fundamentals of blackjack. And no $1 video poker! Also very smokey inside! So if you enjoy players jumping in at bj tables w out asking, players staying on 14 against the dealers 9, and Newport smoke being blown in your face this is ur place. ( for the record I won about $ 1300 so this review wasn't written by a sore loser)

Thank you for your comments regarding the blackjack tables and the smoking in the casino. Since the health and comfort to our guests is a concern we have a state of the art air handling system that continually brings 100% fresh air into the casino gaming floor. At the same time we are exhausting 100% of the existing air. This system changes the air in the casino every 30 minutes. This system allows us to provide the cleanest air possible to our guests. We also offer a non-smoking section of slot machines located inside the Mississippi Moon Bar.

A bus trip to another casino, except I cant say it was much fun for me. I don't have all bad news it just wasn't my cup of fun. When we arrived at the casino we were met by the concierge, she was friendly and accommodating, but was concerned how much alcohol everyone on the bus had consumed and alerted security to keep an eye on us. They have strict inebriation guide lines. No one was even close to drunk. All in all though the staff was very friendly except Brian the roulette dealer, he acted like he didn't want to be there and was condescending towards patrons in his attitude.
The casino was also smoke filled, it is definitely a smokers casino. It was also small and cramped. It has plenty of slot machines and other games but everything is so close together nothing really pops out at you and invites you to play a machine. The whole casino seemed filthy to me.

The buffet was awful. The selection was small and unappetizing to the eye. I guess its there way of saying get out of the eatery and go gamble.

On a good note there is a good sports bar upstairs with a full menu. It didn't make up for the casino experience but it was a good escape from the dungeon of the casino. There is also a bowling alley up stairs. We didn't bowl.

We went here for my fiance's holiday party for work and we all had a blast. Although we didn't do too much gambling, we had so much fun inside at the different bars throughout the casino. They had one bar where they had some sort of a disco night and we had so much fun dancing!
