Hotel has a great asset...its location. Which in turn lead me to great restaurants..Hotel was a little under lockdown with the Cher concert but parking was there because of lockdown...I had a room end of the hall on the 5th floor, it was clean, modern and comfortable and on a concert night quiet. Price was higher because of concert but location is everything. I was kind of a late check in so I immediately went to eat...I checked out there bar which was quaint. There are so many things to do downtown. At check in they recommended Buzzard Billy's which is fabulous for Cajun food and drinks.

I stayed here during a business trip. Usually I tend to stay in the outskirts rather than deep in the heart of the city - but I really liked this location! There was a view of the river from my window and it wasn't as noisy as some of the other downtown areas I have been to.
Right after I checked in an entire school bus of students arrived. I was thinking OMG - but I really didn't hear them all night!
I believe the person on the front desk made sure there was some distance between us.

We stayed here for four nights while playing in State Pool Tournament over at Hy Vee Center. This is the closest and in walking distance to the Hy Vee Center and Wells Fargo Arena. The other Downtown hotels were far enough that most folks used the shuttle busses to go back and fourth. This hotel packs a lot of value as they have free parking, free Wi-Fi and a nice Breakfast buffet plus have a coffee service in the lobby.But no rewards points or credits given for Choice Hotels because of the "block rate". So we may just switch next year to a loyalty program that still awards points like Starwood or Hilton.
They have a pool and no hot tub so again, may shop around next year for a hot tub hotel that awards loyalty points. Staff was very nice, room clean, comfy and quiet. A pretty nice restaurant is in the hotel and open from 4 pm to about 10 pm. Sandwich and app menu.
