“Blank Park zoo”

We always try to visit a zoo when going to different cities/countries. We live in the UK. We found the zoo to be a friendly family like zoo. The animals seemed well looked after and some of the animals in the children's area where very friendly and came up to visitors to be patted. No favourites as all the animals are great to study and watch their behaviour as they must do to us too. A lovely clean zoo and plenty of staff around to watch over the animals which was nice to see.

“Up close with the Wallabies!”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

I had a fantastic afternoon with my girlfriend at Blank Park Zoo! Our favorite part about this zoo was the opportunity to get up close ans personal with so many animals. We walked on a path through an Australia themed enclosure, having a Wallaby bounce within 2 feet of us and a peacock walk right up to us. We were even able to feed goats, coy fish, a giraffe, and other animals. They did have some construction going on, and I am excited to return and see the new exhibits. We enjoyed a very educational and interactive visit to the Blank Park Zoo!

“Nice way to spend some time”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

This zoo was very nice. Well laid out, lots of benches and shade. Seen quite a few of the animals up close including the snow leopard. Very nice that they clean the glass around the animals so you can actually see them. Had lunch as usual with zoos expensive but good. Spent 3 hours there. We love to take pic of the animals and love it when they are active and can be seen easily but still have nice areas for them too.

“Nice way to spend a dat”

My Wife and I really enjoyed our day at the Zoo. Smaller than Brookfield or Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago,IL But such a pleasant setting plenty of shade and benches. Nice indoor area to see the bird collection.
The desk clerk at the Days Inn (airport) we stayed at had discount tickets for the zoo.
We would recommend this as a nice side trip while in Des Moines.
Also a nice lake to walk around with running and bike path was near by the airport. Get directions from the desk staff.

“I thought I was in Lincoln Park”

The Blank Park Zoo has come a long way since I last visited 10 years ago. All visitors must feed the giraffe's and ride the camel!
