Beautiful hotel with exceptional service. Great suite and clean. The staff here is amazing and you will always receive rock star status. The cost at this hotel is really only a few dollars more then a basic motel.

Room Tip: There is not a bad room in the hotel.

The Hyatt Place in Des Moines is my home-away-from home. The staff is courteous, polite and customer-focused. And great news, Jamie is back! Although she no longer works the front desk, she is often around so if you see her, say hello. She is the best.

There are terrific staff members working the front desk, too. Emma rocks! She is always quick with a smile and a "how was your day?" The nice thing is, she means it! Even when she is busy with other things, she drops what she is doing to help me, no matter how trivial!

Jolene (JoJo) is also quick to help! Whether it's heading out in 5 below weather to fetch a car, or to arrange early check-in, she is always there with a warm smile. The other staff, from Eric the doorman to Jared the manager, have figured out the key to a successful establishment: the customer (guests) always come first! I have stayed probably over 30 nights at this hotel in the last year or so. I never had a bad experience!

Going to winter blues fest and rooms at Marriott were $100 more. This room is gorgeous. And connected to the skywalk system, so very convenient. Will definitely recommend to voth in-and out-of-towners! And it includes breakfast.

The Hyatt Place is not a typical Hyatt. The staff is very nice and the valet gets your car instantly. There are no glaring issues. However, the lobby layout and the room appearance is not inviting. I have stayed in better Holliday Inns. The lobby is disjointed, cold, and lacks any kind of design. The bar is small, and looks like a Starbucks counter. The rooms are large, but, strangely uncomfortable. There is a large banquette facing the twin beds, which is totally out of place. The only thing missing is a stripper pole. Even the elevators are strangely located behind a glass panel that opens onto a lobby of a different business. I suggest they call someone for a makeover.

I'm a wedding & events planner & have booked w/ the property about 6 times now. My clients & guests, usually from one of the Coasts, find the hotel & stay a wonderful experience. I, for one, am grateful to have a chic, modern, minimalist hotel property now in Des Moines.
The management & sales team do an incredible job of customer service & attention to detail. Wedding parties have been in awe of the transportation provided by the Valets; especially grateful for the one-time charge of $15.00 (unheard of in DSM!) and free access in & out till 5 P.M. the NEXT day.
I am so thankful for never having to be on property to oversee the needs of my clients. Oh, and the lobby bar/cafe/fireplace makes for fabulous consultations w/ future business connections!!!

Room Tip: Ask for the Northern view!!!

At certain point when your travel a lot, it becomes about a smile and good service. Nothing earth shattering is happening when you open your hotel room door. Here in Des Moines they know friendly personally. Little things like when you come back in from being out and they let you know there are fresh cookies being made. The shuttle service is prompt and on a cold January night, a must. They are a pro-active staff who engage you with useful and honest information. Their dinner recs were bang on. And the room? Clean with room to spread out your things.

This hotel is ok, nice staff. The bed is uncomfortable, make you pay to valet, no one ever works… the hotel isn't high end by any means. Lost our car and our keys .You are better off paying an extra amount of to stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: Don't do it
