“Best sandwiches we have eaten!”

My family stopped in for a variety of sandwiches and we shared them all. My favorite was the Muffalto. I'm not sure if that was the name but I know it had olives tapenade on it. Very warm and welcoming staff and cozy atmosphere

“Don't prejudge this place based on name”

What great food. Went in expecting just del food, but got so much more. Really good food in a very comfortable setting. Had great lunch and then took relatives back for a Valentine's Special Dinner which was fabulous. I personally had one of the best salmon dishes ever.

“Ede's should come to La Crosse, WI!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2014

We tried Ede's on a late December overnight trip to Decorah. I was intrigued by the reviews I'd seen, and I'm always game for a good sandwich. This place doesn't disappoint. I ordered the Bahn Mi (a Vietnamese pork sandwich on a baguette), and my husband ordered the Wapsie (smoked capon). These were both fantastic sandwiches, but I especially loved the Bahn Mi. Fresh bread, pickled jalapenos and carrots, and fresh cilantro top this slightly spicy sandwich. Order the cucumber salad! You won't be disappointed. It's sweet, crunchy, and just a little zingy. The interior of Ede's is functional, but not spectacularly cozy. I like that they provide butcher block paper and crayons at every table, which is a fun activity even for grown-ups. The place was largely empty when we were there, and I'm hoping that's owing to the time of year and frigid weather they were having. Decorah residents and visitors: take advantage of this small gem!

“Master chef, bargain prices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

Besides the inventive midday sandwiches noted by other reviewers (might add the pickles and corned beef are made in-house), The Angry Pickle offers a creative seasonal dinner menu including the only perfectly prepared fresh fish in Decorah, and for extremely reasonable prices. The chef draws upon Thai, South American, Chinese and Middle Eastern flavors and methods, along with more familiar American fare. He offers three different homemade soups at lunch and dinner, part of a salad bar that can be varied and more than complete meal, usually including at least six intriguingly varied salads, from couscous to pasta, potatoes to yams to chickpeas, seasonal fruits and raw vegetables, and house-made dressings for always fresh lettuces. The fish soup is so tantalizingly aromatic and elegant that they have posted a sign asking diners to limit themselves to one bowl of it.
If you must dress up and sit in an over-decorated parlor to feel festive, then you might overlook The Angry Pickle for your next big birthday or anniversary. But, if what matters is a delicious, gourmet meal to make your event special, then embrace the butcher paper over the tablecloths at The Angry Pickle, and enjoy the one truly gourmet meal in town.
