I loved this Hotel! I always stay at the Sheraton downtown Iowa city. But, I figured I give this one a shot. The room's are the best in the area! The Front Desk staff was amazing as well as the rest of the staff. We stayed on the stayover for Breakfast rate. Its a weekend package they offer. You get breakfast for the whole family in the morning. And the pool is just great for kids and adults. Everything is so new and great! I cant wait to stay again. During the Summer they have a patio thats just sooo romatic. This hotel is great for buisness travelers, familys, and anyone looking for a great nights rest along with a little eye candy.

Pros:
New hotel, majestic, glamorous public spaces with high ceilings, art work by local (?) artists, views of the Iowa R, cozy little library with books by former and current Iowa writers (taken over by some traveling salesmen tsk tsk-OK if no one else wants to use but should go to spacious lobby area instead).
Only 3 miles from U of Iowa campus.
Indoor pool w/ indoor jacuzzi.
Very comfy rooms with good beds and down duvets.
Free homemade chips from bar area (took back to our room)
Nice front desk clerks (except for one grouch on the evening shift)
Missing:
Bellmen, refrigerators in rooms, no robes in rooms for pool/jacuzzi, no shower caps, no valet parking.
Cons: Coralville city council should have passed some appearance code regulations- it is a hideous new area of strip mall after strip mall- lacks the charm of Iowa City. Detached parking garage owned by the city- walkway from the garage to the hotel was kept totally cleared of ice and snow and was only a few mins walk but very cold. Inside the garage was a large amt of snow and ice which was potentially treacherous esp for older folks.
Although brand new and swanky, they were obviously cutting some corners (see Missing-above).
Well, I should not complain since we got this in Feb via priceline bid of $60 per night. I was not about to pay 130 to stay in Coralville or 140 at Hotel Ventro in Iowa City both without breakfast. We were scared to eat any of the Marriot's mediocre food- instead found a Breugger's Bagel a few blocks away and nice food co-op (Prairie something- similar to Whole Foods also a few blocks away.)
For dinner, I recommend eating at the Motely Cow in Iowa City and Java and Juice for good espresso drinks and Asian slushies.
Altogether a very pleasant experience.

I stayed in the new Coralville Marriott in early October 2006 for a Hawkeye football game with my husband and two young children. Because this was Homecoming Weekend, this was the only hotel available in the Iowa City/Coralville area, and it was pretty expensive. Only concierge level rooms were available, and we paid around $250 per night. Included was a pretty good continental breakfast (eggs, cereals, pastries, etc.) and access to the concierge lounge with a business area (computer, fax machine). The hotel and room were beautiful - brand new and really nicely decorated. The service was excellent in all aspects. The pool is nice and there is a lovely Iowa Writers Library that would have been fun to explore given more time. I ate lunch at the restaurant one day - a bit overpriced for soup and sandwich, but the food was good. As another reviewer mentioned, the parking is a pain because it is in a detached ramp and is $8 a day. Good location within Coralville and close to Iowa City, but the area adjacent to the hotel is not very attractive - looks like maybe there's more construction planned for the area.

I recently stayed at the Coralville Marriott on a business trip. This is an awesome hotel! It's located in Coralville (Iowa City) area, and just opened in August I believe.

The rooms were very nice and the furnishings were top notch. Very comfortable bed, flat screen TV with connections for external devices (compositve and S-Video, VGA, HDMI), nice working desk with phone and high-speed Internet connections. (Supposedly high speed Internet is $9.95/day per the standard Marriott package, but the system kept offering me a free day during my entire stay!) The bathroom had a nice granite countertop and the shower was good. Roomy closet, nice coffee area (NOT in the bathroom, which I liked). In short, just great! The 7th & 8th floors are concierge floors, and from the outside, it looked like many 8th floor rooms would have floor-to-ceiling windows.

The hotel also has a restaurant. I only ate there one monring and had the breakfast buffet, which was a little overpriced at $11, but the food was very good. The hotel also has an indoor pool and hot tub, which is next to the fitness center. The fitness center was a little small, but had a recumbent bike, 3 or 4 treadmills, 2 elipticals, a weight machine, and free weights. Also, the room has 2 flat screen TVs and each piece of cardio equipment has its own small TV -- bring your own headphones for those, though.

The fixtures and furnishings were a dark, rich wood and earth tones. Very impressive! Staff was always polite, greeting me when I entered or exited through the lobby. I never really had a chance to interact with them except to check in and out.

Parking for the hotel is in the adjacent city-owned garage. It's not connected, and although it's situated just across the sidewalk, the walk from the garage to the front door could be a cold one in the winter. Parking is a little pricey at $8/night, and the card access system is a little strange (although they said they were working with the city to get that changed).

The Marriott is located just off I-80 at exit 242, one west of the Coral Ridge Mall. It's nice that the hotel is close to it without being right there. The location is a formerly industrial area being redeveloped; the road is a nice brick lined drive with a roundabout -- very classy looking. Condos are being built near the hotel, and it looks like there is room for additional businesses along the street. Just down the road are a number of restaurants, lots of chains but also some local places.

I really enjoyed my stay, and look forward to staying here in the future if I'm in the area!
