This hotel is nicely located in Coralville - about a 5m drive to the main campus and surrounded by both fast food restaurants and dine in. The room was fine, nothing special but the customer service was definitely lacking at check-in and check out. You pay $8/day for parking which you have to walk to in a nearby garage. The pool and the gym are good so there is that. I would say this is fine for a one or two night stay but nothing special.

Room Tip: Don't get a room on the 2nd level - its also the conference level and VERY NOISY

Enjoyed a 3 night business trip stay during the week. This place was very busy in the evening with some kind of conference or event everynight. On-target for a Marriott brand. Nice rooms, comfortable bed, clean and nicely done. Lounge has a very good breakfast selection. Bar/restaurant area is nice, plenty of TVs to catch sports. The hotel is maybe 3 or 4 miles west of the downtown/U of Iowa area which is not too bad. Was able to ask for a shuttle one evening from the hotel to town to meet business co-workers for dinner which was a benefit. The hotel is situated on the river which is very nice if you have the time to enjoy the scenery. The pool area is all indoors and looks like a university style olympic pool. Only draw back on the whole place is having to pay a ridiculous $8 a day for parking in a garage about 100 yards away from the front desk. I could see this in larger metro area, but really there is only a couple of restaurants and businesses within walking distance there. Overall nice place, clean, a bit remote but there are a couple of really good restaurant choices within a block or two.

Room Tip: Curtains in rooms overlap to prevent light from getting in. Rooms on the east side will overlook the river. Lounge is on the top floor so it would probably be a little loud in the mornings near the elevator and lounge entrance.

My husband and I stayed here for the second time, while visiting from Canada. The service in this hotel is exceptional- Nancy and Philip, both who work in the Concierge Room, did everything they could to ensure our comfort during our stay. Nancy was well informed about local activities and places to see. Philip found a bicycle that I could use for the week. We will definitely come back. Thank you for such a great time in Iowa!

This is my second stay at the Coralville Marriott for a conference. The hotel itself is standard or possibly sub par for Marriott property. Nice but nothing super special. The staff, however, do stand out as exceedingly helpful and friendly. They are right on top of any request, even during a very busy weekend. I requested a room change away from the elevator, and they responded immediately, moving me on the same floor (more convenient for me) but other end of hall from elevator. Yay! Rooms were acceptably clean (except for stain on carpet). Didn't use maid service. I did have a refrigerator in my room but no microwave. But for 1 or 2 restaurants, the property is removed from any substantial shopping/dining and the downtown area so you need a car if you want to see Iowa City/Coralville. The standout of this place is the grounds and the walk along the river. It is exceptional.

Room Tip: Request a room away from elevator/ice machine and on backside of property, which overlooks large courtyard/lake/walkway and, further out, prairie, trees and the river. It's a fantastic view!

Recently spent time at this hotel as part of a conference. The rooms are nice but nothing overly special. Nice HVAC system, spacious bathroom, decent storage, but no refrigerator or microwave in the rooms. The beds were exceptional and a nice large flat screen TV is nice, too. This is a large property and hosted our conference nicely but it is a bit of walking to get from "a" to "b". We did not eat at the on-site restaurant but found their bar service to be less than satisfactory. Drink prices were unreasonably high and the bartenders did not seem happy to be hosting a large group of thirsty conference attendees- disappointing. Parking is in an adjacent parking garage but be prepared to pay for it. Our conference room rate was decent and included parking otherwise I would not likely recommend this unless you simply demand an allegedly upscale hotel.
