Stayed 1 night before visit to University of Iowa. Great location close to everything - shopping, restaurants and the university. Hotel very well maintained, front desk polite and helpful. Room very clean - minor issue that required assistance from maintenance dept - quickly fixed. Beds - very comfortable. Breakfast was substantial - waffles are good! And there's an IHOP right next door. There was some trucking noise in back, but with the window closed - no problem. Lastly, appreciated that this is a smoke free hotel.

We decided to stay here due it being one of the highly recommended ones in the Coralville area. The staff was friendly, but overall, I got the feeling it wasn't the tightly-run ship is should be for over $100 a night. We love children and were happy to see them enjoying their stay. There were kids climbing up the waterslide while the slide was closed during the day; I mentioned it to the front desk staff member, and she seemed a little unconcerned. There was a child's birthday party going on in the main lounge one evening, and the noise level was above was I deem acceptable for the price. Again, it didn't seem to affect the front desk staff, and carried on for quite some time.
The carpet and furniture in our room, along with the drapes, visibly has spots and dust. I think it just needed a thorough cleaning. Also, housekeeping opened the door of our room (after waiting less than 3 seconds after knocking)...twice.
If you like to shop/browse/eat out, the location is great! I warn you however, there is a train track right in front of the hotel. A train blared its whistle and ran the tracks more than once while dark outside.
Little annoyances aside, this would be a great hotel for $80 a night. For $100, I expect very clean rooms and very considerate staff.

My family has stayed at this hotel several times (I think this will be our 4th or 5th stay) over the past 1.5 years. Here is our overall take:

The Good:
Staff - They have always been friendly and accommodating.
Location - Nice location near the mall, walking/biking trail, and only a few miles from the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Many restaurants (fast food and otherwise) located nearby.
Pool - Our kids love it...but see below.
Rooms - We love that we can get a king size bed and the kids can sleep on the pull out sofa bed. We have younger children and the distance from the bed to the floor is much better with a pull out sofa than it is with a queen size bed.
Breakfast - A contenential breakfast is included in the cost of the room.

The Bad:
Pool - We love the pool area and there is even a decent sized waterslide that the kids absolutely LOVE. However, the pool has been on cooler side during every one of our stays --so much so that my husband and I don't really like going in it. We've never complained to the staff because pools take so long to heat up that it would never be warmed before the end of our stay anyway. This would be MUCH more enjoyable if they could crank up the heat a bit.
Rooms - We've had a couple of rooms that have had sticky carpet. To me, this is the sign of an unclean (or just old!) carpet that has not been well-kept. They could probably stand to be replaced!

All in all, this hotel is one that we continue to go back to. The location is great and we have always received good service. They could manage to make a few upgrades that would make the hotel even more appealing to us but unless things were to start going downhill significantly, we'll continue to stay here whenever we travel to the Iowa City/Coralville area!

P.S. If you are a hospital patient, be sure to request their hospital patient rates. They usually provide a sizeable discount over the standard room rates.

We stayed only one night, but will certainly return. The hotel was clean and service was excellent. Breakfast was awesome and plentiful. Pool was a bit cold, but nothing too bad. We had 5 kids in our party and it was an inexpensive get away that kept the kids and adults happy. Very close to the mall, which was also a great place to take the kids.

I've stayed at a lot of Choice Hotels over the past 5 years or so. Normally, I have a decent stay without many bells & whistles.

This place though was exceedingly clean, the staff was as nice as could be, and the breakfast was excellent. What you'll normally see is a waffle maker and some fruit however they had omlettes, sausage links, and cinnamon rolls as well. It was an oustandingly diverse breakfast.

I have stayed here many times over the past year because we have a corporate account. The property is relatively new... but I notice more signs of aging each time I return. Overall it's a decent, affordable place. Not at all bad - but not great. Location is ideal: right across the street from tons of restaurnants & the Coral Ridge Mall.

We stayed here for a few nights on our way to a family wedding. We had a great stay. This hotel is very new. The lobby is gorgeous. The stone fireplace is very inviting, and they had fresh cookies waiting. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful with ample seating. The best part - the pool and waterslide! Our kids, as well as us parents, loved it! This is not what you expect from a regular chain hotel, and it was a very nice surprise! Thumbs up for this hotel, the pool, and the waterslide. We will definitely stay here again whenever we travel through Iowa.
