We live in the area, but only visited this restaurant for the first time this christmas season. On the outside, it's a little intimidating - a big brick building that says Iowa River Power Company. We went with the kids and in our work clothes...only to find that the inside was fantastically upper-scale, with views of the river and beautifully decorated with red and gold christmas trees and traditional christmas music. We felt a little under-dressed, but no one paid any mind to that (this is still Iowa City afterall, there really aren't dress codes). The prime rib was perfect, the kids meals even came with a plate of fresh grapes and cantaloupe that wasn't even in the menu description, so a nice surprise. The bleu cheese salad was amazing. The kid's meals were enormous, we had leftovers for another whole meal for them. The service was perfect. The prices are about what you'd expect - a lot more expensive than McDonalds, but not so pricey that you feel ripped off. We had two large prime rib orders, a crab rangoon appetizer (which are huge and filled with creamy crab meat), two kids burgers, 2 glasses of wine and two beers, everything came to about $100 before tip. Absolutely a must for special occasions or anyone just wanting a great meal in excellent atmosphere.
