“Not bad. Not great.”
Reviewed July 10, 2011

Stayed here our first night en route to Yellowstone NP after driving about 500 miles. The room was clean and everything was in order. It just was not exceptionally comfortable. Everything seemed old and needed updating. The staff were friendly and efficient, and breakfast was fine. It's a good place to stay, but not exceptional. Lots of choices in the area, and restaurants within walking distance.

I stay in Des Moines frequently and anytime I come I always stay here. On MTW you get free beer/wine along with some delicious pizza after five and are able to meet some friendly people. After the drinks head back to the room for a quite evening of paper work followed by the jets of the hot tub suite melting away the stresses of working on the road (get the hot tub suite, no extra charge!) When you wake up, enjoy some extras that are available than most continental breakfasts (Sausage links, fruit and whip cream for waffles, yogurt, and hard boiled eggs)....I like to take a biscuit...cut it in half, put a few sausage links inside along with some hard boiled egg...an activa yogurt and a tall chai tea...BEST WAY TO START YOUR DAY!

Room Tip: Get the hot tub suite! Stay MWF (free drinks)! Be a regular and when they recognize your experience...

I recently stayed at your hotel and I must say I was very please in the way I was treated. The Hotel was great and so was the staff. Mr. Steven Daggett, My Guest Service Representative, was extremely courteous and helpful throughout my stay. He made special efforts to accommodate me, even after my reservation that I booked on line was not correct. He performed above and beyond the call. He should definitely be commended, My hats off to you for having the foresight in choosing such a conscientious individual to represent you and your hotel.

Thank you and I look forward to future stays at your hotel.

Respectfully,
Dedric L. Roberts

And so we did, at the BW with daughter and her traveling cat. Nothing special about the place but it was above average for a “pet friendly” stop. Got in late and the Check-in guy, recognizing that we were tired, offered us a couple of beers to help us unwind. Never had that happen before!
The room was typical but did notice a distinct odor (disinfectant maybe) in the shower/toilet area. Could be a result of the “pet-friendly” status. Beds were fine, again nothing spectacular but no complaints really. Breakfast was the usual motel road stuff.
It was a good pet place off I 80.

We stayed at this Best Western on our way back from Colorado. After a horrendous experience at a Holiday Inn Express in North Platte, Neb. on the way out, I was hoping for improvement on the return trip. This Best Western was a big hit. First, it was half the price at $85 before tax for a decent sized room with 2 queens. The room was very clean with newer appointments. It had a very nice sized mini-fridge which was very convenient (larger than the usual room fridge). The beds were comfy and the air conditioning on a very hot night worked well and was fairly quiet. It was nicely located near two quality restaurants. Free wireless internet worked fine. When I arrived after 10 hours of driving, I was delighted to see a little happy hour going on with free munchies, beer and wine! A nice touch for an off the Interstate hotel. The cold Miller Light hit the spot. The best part was the continental breakfast. At the Holiday Inn the week before, we were served powdered eggs (completely inedible - even my 7 year old wanted to spit her first spoonful out), gooey gravey to cover biscuits (how healthy for children huh?) and some nasty danishes. At the Best Western, they had a waffle maker. Not only were they good, the kids had fun making their own. They also had real eggs! (Still can't figure out why it was so hard for Holiday Inn to put together a real egg breakfast in the middle of America's Heartland.) Also served sausage, various cereals, yogurt, juices, and very good coffee. Much more than what I expected since the included breakfast is described as "continental." If I had gone to a restaurant, the breakfast would have run my family at least $40 with tip. All in all, this hotel is a great value. It sold me on the Best Western chain, and I am pretty sure a lot of these are independently owned, which can make a difference.

The hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable (although really soft!). The air conditioning worked really well. The bathroom was clean with a nice shower head. It had a recliner in the room that my eight year-old slept in and thought was great. The breakfast bar was good---waffles, sausages, cereal, juices, hard-boiled eggs, muffins, etc. It had an indoor pool that my family enjoyed, although the towels were incredibly small. The exercise room was adequate. The front desk staff was very nice.

The only real negative was the noise--we could hear trucks coming on and off the interstate throughout the night, so if you are a light sleeper, you might want to look elsewhere or bring earplugs.
