“Good Economy Motel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2012

Our room 109 at AmericInn seemed larger than most standard 2 queen rooms and was very clean and comfortable. There was an iron and ironing board hanging on the wall inside the entrance next to a shelf/hanging bar to hang your clothes. There was no closet in our room. Bathroom was clean and standard motel type with a sink outside the room where the toilet and shower/tub combo was. The lobby smelled of chlorine from the adjacent indoor pool. A breakfast area was set up on the left side of the lobby and they had a flat screen tv hanging in a corner so you could catch up on tv watching while you ate. The morning we were there they had scrambled eggs and sausage, make your own waffles, bread for toast, 4 or 5 types of cereal, small basket of fresh fruit, and fruit juices. There was also a small refrigerator on the counter that had cartons of 2% milk, yougurt, and cottage cheese. Coffee was located on a seperate area and while I don't drink coffee, my wife said it was awful. We went to the nearby Casey's on our way back to I 380 so she could satisfiy her morning coffee needs. Hotel was conviently located near The Eastern Iowa Airport right off of I 380 so you had good access to both Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. The rate we paid with tax was $111.19 but you can get cheaper rates by planning ahead. We booked last minute because of a change in our plans.

I needed to conduct a couple of business meetings before and after another one and found the suite perfect for these meetings. It allowed for notes to be taken at the desk and the internet to be used as we conducted our business. The pool worked well for my aqua exercises. The wide variety of breakfast choices was a pleasant surprise and the food was delicious. I would recommend anyone using this hotel.

Pool, Internet, clean room, free breakfast, friendly staff. Quality of all was excellent. Just a mile or two from the airport too. Lobby was relaxing with fireplace, vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, beautiful woodwork and comfortable furniture. Couldn't ask for more.

We went to AmericInn Cedar Rapids for our anniversary. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The lobby provides coffee and tea with flavorings whenevery you want. The room was very clean and inviting. The bed was adequate. The swimming pool was colder than I prefer, but the hottub was nice. The wireless internet was faster and more consistant than many motels we have stayed in lately. We arrived at breakfast at 9:00, an hour before they end serving, and the eggs were almost all. But the waffles were very crispy and tasty. I would not hesitate to return to this motel in the future.

I'd never stayed at an AmericInn before. It's basic, but it's clean and reasonably comfortable and the rooms are a vast size, but having a jacuzzi in the room and a bathtub in the bathroom is ridiculous. It is particularly ridiculous when a neighbour decides to run the jacuzzi at 10.30pm and the noise is so deafening that the television is drowned out. The amenities are very average (there is no restaurant or snack bar--just a vending machine), and the free wi-fi did not work. The only place to eat within walking distance is a Macdonalds, which I didn't bother with. The airport shuttle was fully booked, so I had to have a taxi ordered at 5am, which cost $9.50. The best thing about this hotel was the staff, who are lovely and tremendously helpful.

I was not expecting much - just a cheap, safe & clean place to rest after I arrived at the airport before leaving for another city - but I was surprised at how much more I got for the rate. Don't take review this as anything more than recognition of a nice surprise when I was expecting average. The desk staff were very nice & helpful, the room was spotlessly clean & the breakfast area was far more than I expected. I am used to suprises while on the road for business & this location provided only good ones.
