“Fun time for kids”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Whenever we come home, we have to go to Planet X with our friend's son. He loves it! He's 10 years old and has 2-3 hours of fun there. The equipment is old and the laser tag is much smaller than it was before. It's cleaner in their new location. There really is no food other than ordering a whole pizza at a time. But for a kids party or a few hours of fun with kids - it's a good time. We did the rock climbing and that was a good time but you have to search people out a bit to help with that. Overall - it's fine - not great and kinda run down - but fun for a few hours once a year.

“Planet X is a friend to our community!”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donation to the CR MS walk. As a customer of yours for years it was so exciting to see how motivated you were to participate. Also as a mother of three young boys we are looking forward to your new indoor playground area. I have heard really good things and love the idea of having a space for children of all ages. As again thank you for being a friend of the MS walk and Cedar Rapids.

“Overpriced for what there is to do”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

We took the kids and thought it was overpriced, overhyped for what there is to do.

We took kids ranging from 15-4. The bounce house was a hit for the younger kids, but besides golf (which a person can only play about once) and lazer tag (that you have to sign up in advance -- and the wait can be hours), there is not much for older ones to do.

The bounce house was boring after about 2 hours and then the kids wanted money to play video games (which are free at home).

This place is not clean. I would not eat or use the restroom facilities.

“Utter disappointment, and a little creepy”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

We went to see Planet X after they moved to the small building, so I can't compare it to how it used to be. But I couldn't even believe they were open for business. The room is small and very dark. The activities are crammed together in the dark, and its hard to tell if they are really installed all the way, so we didn't let the kids do any. We just played games, and got plenty of tokens for a reasonable price. Problem was at least 50% of the video games were BROKEN. I couldn't understand how this place opened for business without repairing any of their faulty equipment? I mean really? It just made me happy we didn't try the rock climbing. We dumped our tokens in the half a dozen games that actually worked, and left after 20 minutes to go across the road to Chuck-e-Cheese.

“It has become a money pit and is now just a glorified arcade room!!”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

Planet X has been a favorite for my kids and my school age daycare kids for years. It use to be a nice place to take the kids for the afternoon and it was very resonable in price! Now Planet X has moved to a very small building behind the Lindale Mall (it is no longer located next to HyVee where it has been for years). There is nothing for children under the age of 5 to do there anymore. They had this little blow up house but the roof was caved in and it was all duct taped up and very filthy. They have gotten rid of all their climbing tubes & balls (they are sitting out in an alley behind the building). They no longer have the moving rock climbing wall but just the plain grey stationary one. The minature golf is very tiny and small...... the kids were done with it in 10-15 minutes. They no longer have the bike that you peddled to get it to go upside down. The lazer tag is upstairs in this little loft area ( about 19 x 19 foot area) with just a few black block bags hanging down from the ceiling to hide behind. The bumper car area is very small and not at all what it use to be. They still have the two trampoline basketball areas. Another thing they do have is TONS of coin operated games!! This place is full of the games (that you have to buy tokens for of course) and thats all the kids want to do!! So, for a $17.00 wristband ($15.00 on Fridays) Your kids have 2 hours of play in.... a small mini golf area, one game of lazer tag in a very small area, 2 bouncing basketball courts, one small rock climbing wall, bumper cars and 20 coins for games. My kids were all bored with in one half hour of getting there and they wanted more money to play the games. For $14.00 you can get one hour of unlimited play, one game of lazer tag and 10 game tokens. You can also just pay to do one thing at a time. The pizza is priced very high as is the soda and slushy drinks. They now also have an adult area where they serve beer and wines which is also pricey. All of my kids were so dissappointed when we left!! They kept asking me what happened to Planet X?? We will definently not be back or have a Birthday Party there!! Your better off going to Play Station or Chuck E Cheeses.
